I don't believe that his sangria is all that good. the sangria at the Argentine Steak House is better. mho.

His description of Sangria was a cheap drink to make you drunk fast, and he was right! Cheap red wine (1 bottle) Cup or two liquor (whiskey, rum, vodka...your choice) 1 can of 7-Up 1 cup Cointreau Fruit . . . whatever you have.  We used watermelon, strawberries, pineapple, oranges, limes Mix together and refrigerate for a couple days.  Warning...tops will pop off of containers!  Also, eating fruit is good, but very potent! I didn't realize it was supposed to be refrigerated that long.  Doesn't the fruit get kinda funky?? Do you put more 7up or whatever in it when you serve it?  I sometimes make what I call sangria, but I do it just with wine, gingerale or 7up, basically equal parts with the wine, orange and lemon or lime juice, and fruit, and let the flavors blend for a couple of hours.  It's refreshing and very light, since it's only about half alcohol, with no liquor in it.

Makes excellent sangria.  Combine all ingredients and let chill in the frig for about 1 hour.   Silly to use a bottle of red that costs more than 15-20.  
  1 bottle red wine 1 sliced orange 1 sliced lime 1 sliced apple 1 sliced peach 1 cup lemonade 1 cup ginger ale or club soda 1/4 ro 1/2  cup sugar

Authentic sangria contains both wine and liquor, and for that reason has been illegal in Virginia until July 1, 2008 when the old law prohibiting combining wine and liquor was finally repealed.

Virginia sure has some weird laws!  <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Smile.gif" alt="" />  That one bit the dust after I left though, it looks like!  As I said, I make what I call sangria, not authentic, for sure!

Until recently I did not like Sangria but had it at Outback Steakhouse and Victor's Cafe in NYC in the last six months and really liked both of them.  
  I drank a white sangria this weekend in Albany and it was awful. I was getting a headache almost immediately drinking it and it tasted like cheap wine to me.  I am no wine expert but have had "cheap" wine and that is what it tasted like to me.  
  I'd love to see more recipes for Sangria and will try making it as I find it very refreshing when well made.

It does look good and potent.  I have several flavored vodka’s but not peach.  Maybe I’ll try with regular vodka.  Over the years I’ve had some pretty bad red Sangria with cognac or brandy.  Elizabeth -- After looking your link I  realize there are many variations using several types of liquor with the wine.  I will certainly have to experiment.

Ours has Red Wine, White Wine, Rum, Brandy, Lemonade, along with apples, oranges, pears, and what ever fruit sounds good when shopping. T

We did not add more 7 up to serve either!  The watermelon was the best!  We made it for a dock party at our marina, and promised the water patrol we wouldn't take the party to the water!
