We havent been to Pinel in over 10 years but I read something today about the snorkelling been great. Something about a new pathway in the water that snorkellers can follow, with signs to direct them what they should be seen. Has anyone been to Pinel lately, and can comment on the snorkeling?

I'd be interested too because we'll be (hopefully if storm clears) on SXM this Saturday and want to go to Pinel.

Do they rent equipment there or should we pack some?

We were there about a week ago. The snorkel trail is off to the right of the dock as you approach on the water taxi. As I recall it was $12 to do the trail and I believe that includes the equipment. They did have several rows of full face masks on the counter. We did not do the trail as the day we were there it was a bit rougher than my swimming abilities would allow.
