We're chartering out of Tortola, but some of our group is arriving a day early and staying in STT. Question - they wonder if it's more affordable (and allowed) to purchase preferred liquor, and a few other things in STT and bring with them via ferry. Any requirements with customs, etc? Are things any cheaper in STT?

On net after BVI duty liquor will be a bit cheaper on Tortola. Te main thing I see brought in by the locals is monster bundles of toilet paper and paper towels.

Depends on the mood of Customs that day. The may wave you through or they very well may charge you duty. Be sure to declare the items and keep receipts. I've heard from a couple people who have been charged duty on things they have brought along. With the current state of affairs, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see them generate revenue this way.

Price of rum and beer going up thanks to the new SIN tax in the USVI. Governor needs more money to cover his tab at the Ritz Carlton. Easier and less hassle to just provision in the BVI.
