Some of you will remember that over the past three years I had to curtail travel because a serious cardiac issue.

Well three years and three surgeries later, just wanted to say how great it was to be back in the BVIs. We had not been in about six years. There is nothing I can tell you folks that you don't already know but I wanted to highlight some great moments from my trip back:

Jost Van Dyke: Hendo's Hideout on White Bay: What a great new place. I highly recommend this restaurant/bar if you haven't been yet.
Foxy's: Had to go but has lost its shine for me. Prefer Foxy's Taboo.
Sandy Spit: Deceptively hard swim to the islet from our mooring ball. I had to pass.

Virgin Gorda: Took a powerboat to Anegada which I will never forget. Seeing the pink flamingoes on the turquoise water was magical. Also got a closer look at Necker Island -- unbelievable. Photos don't do it justice.
Fischer Cove Beach: Not the best and surprisingly rolly!

Tortola: Will always have a soft spot for Tortola. We rented a car from Soper's Hole car rentals and did the familiar drives. Some changes but mostly as I remember it. Cane Garden Bay was packed like Fort Lauderdale. Had a nice lunch at the new beachfront restaurant at Sugar Mill. Simple but peaceful. Even loved the switchbacks!

Loved the Painkillers at Pusser's Soper's Hole.

Was fortunate to be able to stay on a friend's boat for this trip and I have realized that the best way to see the BVI's is by boat. Had tears in my eyes on our first approach to Soper's Hole.

I'm back baby!

We love Hendo's on JVD too!
We're taking a Reef Tour on Anegada this month - can't wait to see the flamingos.
Your post is making the next 9 days till we leave seem like an eternity!
