Has anyone been on the St.Barths cruise on Tiko Tiko? We have done the PikNik cruise twice and were thinking about the St.Barths Cruise in May. Thanks

Hi. I moved this thread here, as it will get more responses here. The only bad things I've heard about this cruise revolve around the actual trip. The ocean between SXM and St. Barts can be VERY rough. If you are prone to seasickness, you might want to consider flying over instead.

We went on the powerboat and are literally lucky to be alive in our view. I wouldn't take the sailboat in the high winds and heavy seas we went out in either.

Make sure seas are light. Like less than 3 feet.

Personally, I'd fly and take a cab to Saline beach. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/toast.gif" alt="" />

We took the catamaran last October over to St Barts and we must have hit it on a good day, as the seas were not too bad. We had some swells, but not too bad. The only negative thing is that you only have a short period of time there before everything in town basically shuts down for a break in the afternoon, and by the time it re-opens, you are already sailing back. Now that we have done it once, it is off our list as things to do again.

Thank You All for your replies. I am very prone to motion sickness, so I will will definitely check the weather and water conditions very carefully!!! There's nothing worse than sea sickness when you are suppose to be having a good time!!!

We took the Tiko Tiko around the island cruise in April and enjoyed it a great deal. We was thinking about the PikNik cruise next year. What's your thoughts?

Honestly, if you are prone to seasickness, I think I would pass on sailing to St. Barts. The plane doesn't cost that much more and you would have a lot more time to enjoy ST. Barts itself.

We have done the Gourmet once and the PikNik twice on our last four visits. Enjoyed them both very much..very relaxing, good food, weather was perfect and we had alot of fun.. The last time we did the PikNik was in 2014, but since then I think I read issues about being nude on Tintamarre .Don't know what ever came of that, but reading on Tiko Tiko's website under FAQ it says nudity alowed in designated area. At the time we went we were allowed to explore around the island freely. So maybe someone else could answer that from a more current visit. The St.Barths sounds like it would be a fun trip if the water was going to be calm.

Thanks for the info. Niko from Tiko told us you can only go directly from the water to your chairs sans clothing. As for St.Barths, some people we met there told us the air plane ride is really the way to go, and only took 12 minutes. He said it took longer to get ready to go than the flight.

I'm very sorry to hear this. We are very lucky to be alive after a solid hour of those size waves crashing hard down going over (several a minute). He swore the ride back would be better it was less crashing but even scarier as the swells went under us but could of swamped us at any time. We were soaked continuously and could not speak. We had to use thumbs up to say we were ok, holding on to perfect strangers to keep everyone safe.

We complained that it was unsafe and he should not have gone but would not refund our money. He offered a future trip. No thanks.

Our backs, necks were not broken but we have never felt repeated spine compressions like that before and we were bruised.

Very UNSAFE decision to go.

5 weeks till touch down. Just signed up for PikNik cruise on June 15th. First time for Tiko, and seven years since Club O. This will be the longest 35 days of my life.

Not sure if this whom you are looking for but in my research for our 1st non-cruise visit I came upon this website. http://sxmdeals.com/st-maarten-excursions-captain-paul-clothing-optional-tour/

The Tiko was the highlight of our trip. The way over and back was fairly smooth. Great way to meet people. Just one tip; take a bed sheet with you. We did and it worked great for keeping your towels and other item out of the sand. Great snorkeling too.

Paul sails out of Oyster Pond. My wife and I have been on 3 of Paul's trips. The trip to Saint Bart's was a little bumpy but worth it. We are booked for his SXM trip in November. You can book your trip with Paul through Captain Alan's Charters website.
