Hi. I changed the title of your post, to hopefully get some more attention from sailboat charter people, as the vast majority of folks here are land based.

Since I am also land based and know almost nothing about charters, I had to look up where Dream Yacht Charter is, and found that it is in Marigot. Others may disagree, but there is not really much of anywhere that I would recommend for you to stay in Marigot. The only real hotel that comes to mind in Marigot is Le Beach, which used to be called something else, can't remember. Possibly it is adults only now, and I don't know if you have kids? Personally, I don't think it's safe to walk around that area after night, or pretty much, anywhere in Marigot, so I wouldn't stay in Marigot at all.

As far as travel time from the airport to Marigot, AFTER you clear immigration and get your luggage, it would be about a half hour or so or less to Marigot, depending on traffic. If you haven't been to SXM before, I would just get a taxi from the airport. Or you can arrange transport ahead of time with TTOL sponsor Wilfred Brooks. You can find him on the TTOL sponsor list.

What time are you coming in on your flight? If it were me, I'd stay somewhere like Mary's Boon in Simpson Bay for that first night. Pretty close to the airport, it's on the beach, you can sit and relax and have a nice dinner, either there, or walk just next door to Karakter for dinner. That's what I would do. If you decide to just do Mary's Boon, you can just get a cab from the airport, and depending on time of day and traffic, probably be about 10 minutes from the airport (because of traffic, as much as anything, as it's very close).

As far as provisioning, if you're going to shop yourself, Super U is the closest to where your charter base is and they have a good selection and prices, UNLESS you want American products, like snacks, etc., which they don't have much of. Much better for American products is Carrefour in Cole Bay or Grand Marche at the roundabout. GM does yacht provisioning also. I don't know if Super U does or not.

As I said, most here are land based. I will look up some threads with some general info and post a link.

I know most here disagree with me, but we really like Garden Market. It might be a little higher in costs then other markets, but we really like the produce, deli, meats and the liquor is very reasonable with a very nice wine selection. We had our boat in Simpson Bay Marina for a month and thought the market to be very convenient.

I agree Market Garden in Simpson Bay is a great little place to stop. You can even buy fresh produce from the Rasta Gardens there. It is always clean and very pleasant to shop there.

can you stay the night before on the boat? it really simplifies things. use a service to do the shopping. save yourself the hassle. it's vacation.
