Last Wednesday there was a terrible thunder storm from late night until early morning. It was like a big storm rolled in and stayed. No wind but lot's of rain and thunder and lightening. We are on Virgin Gorda, and some parts of some beaches washed out, the roads are still covered in mud and sand, road crews are out with shovels and bulldozers clearing the roads. What a mess. Mt. Trunk Bay, near Nail Bay resort suffered an influx of dirt washed down from the hillside and the water was still muddy out to at least sixty feet five days later. The step down from the sidewalk to the beach at Mahoe is now about six feet, with large jagged rocks exposed after the sand washed out. Savannah Bay is okay, as is Spring Bay and the Baths. We were chatting with some bareboat charters at Savannah and they said in all their years of chartering the BVI they have never seen a tree floating in the channel. guess we got out just in time. we left on the 8th.

We were at Cooper that night. Quite the light show. Lots of wash at around the buildings too. Their cisterns over flowed and flooded the Coffee and rum bar. Dingies were half full of water the next day.

We were at Cane Garden Bay Wednesday evening. We got some rain, but the lightning stayed mostly to the east.

We enjoyed the storm from the CYOA dock. Not nearly that bad in St Thomas though still dreary. I noticed a lot of wood floatsom near West End 2 days later while waters in Pond Bay and Savannah Bay were clear. Water was clear in Oil Nut Bay 3 days later but obvious signs of erosion ashore and the staff mentioned in was the heaviest rainfall measured on VG in 150 years (I didn't get a clarification if it was for 1 hour or 24 hours).
