So the MIT flotilla itinerary has made me rethink our float plan. Can anyone give me a rundown of the atmosphere over on Norman on a Sunday? I've been there many other days but I've read some hellish stories about out of line patrons at the Willy T on a Sunday.
We will have newbies and children on board and surely the kids will want to visit "the pirate ship"
I'd appreciate comments.
Thanks!

Sunday is locals night on the Willy T -- I would just maybe take the kids earlier? I've heard varying reports of how rowdy it can get - if you're just bringing the kids over and having some dinner, I imagine it would be fine....

You're probably fine in the afternoon, but I wouldn't do it any later. It's kinda hit or miss.

By 8 pm the kids should be back to the boat. Sunday can get quite crazy and the dining room will not insulate you from the insanity.

We were there on a Sunday last summer with my, at the time, 7 year old. You're right, kids WILL want to go see the pirate ship. We did a flyby in the dinghy in the afternoon and since it was almost vacant we stopped and had s few drinks. No problem whatsoever. Plan on an afternoon visit, be flexible and you will be fine.

Just keep in mind that if you are thinking of substituting Norman for Peter on the 28th due to the MIT crowd? Norman is one of the stops for Poker Run that day...

I have gone to the Willy T on Sunday on my last four charters (including this past April). I've never had a problem. In fact, things were pretty tame there last month. I wouldn't be put off or change your schedule if it works for you to be there Sunday

We went last Saturday (5/13) and had a blast. One word of warning if you take kids day or night, keep them away from the TV's at the bar. Some of those pictures of previous partiers are very risque!! Didn't bother us but we are all adults.

Must be getting old. We were on Willie T for 1 drink last Friday evening and the crappy music they were blaring drove us away. We were there around 9PM and it was pretty dead.

SDB is pretty much off our list. Way too busy. Georgeous bay, but it's no longer "nice" to visit. We stopped by last week, however, there were no balls and no room to anchor. At least as many boats anchored as on balls. Oh well.

Is there a new Disneyland attraction called "Fraternity Party Beach Bash"?

Thanks. Yes, when we go to JVD we love Long Bay and Manchioneel. As far as Willy T... We love to give it a shot. It's really hit and miss; we just bail if the vibe isn't fun. Like an earlier post you can often tell be the music if it is 'on' or not. Love it when its fun but never a disappointment just to head back to the boat.

our last trip we went in for lunch...no wore their sandals. Uggg the floors were really rough. I went with the captain back to the cat and gathered up a few pairs of flip flops for our group. Once back with footwear all was good! We enjoyed our afternoon and when things got beyond our comfort zone we headed back to the cat and then on to the Bight for dinner.

I have found Sunday afternoon is for locals and Sunday night used to be more for visiting sailors. Norman is a popular (and easy) first night stop as, after boat check out, it is almost noon or shortly thereafter when you get away from Roadtown. In 90 minutes you can be in a picture perfect anchorage getting onto Island time. And many one week charters begin on Sundays.

During my visit this past February the locals remained into the evening and were quite aggressive with the females in our party (I was part of a 7 boat flotilla). No blows exchanged but it came close.

The afternoon was fine as not as much alcohol was consumed. By later in the evening, everyone was pretty wasted. However even in the afternoon, there were drunken ladies taking off the tops and consuming (free) body shots off one another and it got even raunchier than that at one point though that was the first time i'd seen that in an afternoon visit.

Check out the number of dinghys tied up to the WT and make your decision accordingly. With kids, Pirates on shore has a beach, gift shop and you can go for a hike. They also have a happy hour and used to (maybe they still do) have a cannon that is small (but loud) that is shot off at some point in the afternoon (maybe someone can fill in some of my missing pieces here....).

But I can see why the kids would be attracted to a pirate ship...

If there are lot of dingy s there its probably going to be on the tamer side on a
Sunday. If there are a lot of go fast boats it's probably going to be a little more on the wild side.

Well, Willy T's was just nuts yesterday, Sunday! Between the Poker Run folks and a huge Bachelorette party it was crazy
