Tuesday was a day of busy work...grocery shopping, Time Share Owners meetings and no beach time.

Evening, however, brought a visit to the Citrus at Cupacoy restaurant.

Citrus is relatively new, opening only last November/December. It is near the Sapphire Beach Club and a ways beyond the Atlantis Casino. This is a very comfortable restaurant with a romantic atmosphere and easy listing 50's and 60's music. The menu featured a variety of items that we could not qualify as French, Italian or Continental, though enjoying the influence of all of those. The chef, Jeffrey Kipp is fairly new to the Island, moving to SXM in January from Chicago.

Gretchen ordered an Arugula salad and Salmon. I ordered the "Chef's`tasting menu" with a set of several courses for a single price of $39.

We were immediately treated to a pre-appetizer of home smoked duck on a bed of fruit compote that was very tasty.

The first course of my dinner was a Chinese Purple Potato soup...also quite tasty though the serving was small. Gretchen had not ordered an appetizer but they brought her an appetizer of Seered Big Eye Tuna on a fruit bed so that she would not be without an appetizer while I ate. Gretchen normally likes fish only well done but she really enjoyed this tuna which was largely uncooked.

For the second course, Gretchen had her Arugula Salad garnished with Walnuts, Granny Smith apple slices and shaved parmesan cheese and I had pan roasted Duradae.

For the main course Gretchen had the Seared Salmon with Kohlrabi, Mushrooms, Forbidden rice and sweet onion sauce and I had roasted lamb tenderloin Risotta and asparagus.

Finally, for dessert, Gretchen had Macadamia coated chocolate truffles with fresh strawberries. With the Chef's Tasting Menu I had a lemon semi-Fredo (like soft ice cream) with Chocolate Souffle Cookies and Candied Lemon.

We really enjoyed the dinner, though the check with three bottles of water and 15% service charge totalled $108.
