As we are about to embark on another long holiday weekend doing whatever makes us happy, I want to take a few moments to honor those who have given so much for all of us. We have so much to be grateful for and so many to be grateful to. I offer my personal thanks to all who made those sacrifices along with the certainty, you will never be forgotten.

Thanks Pat!
Your post is very appropriate!
As a reminder to others, Memorial day is when we remember those who sacrificed greatly defending our freedom. When you encounter a Vet on Memorial Day saying "Thank you for your service" is an appropriate comment. "Happy Memorial Day" is not. We are remembering our fallen friends and comrads.
Sunday evening we will be watching the Memorial Day concert on the Mall on PBS.

Thank You Bill and Terry for your service! I was never in the armed forces, but my father and brother were both veterans. My father served during WWII in the Army. He guarded POWs in the states. He wasn't allowed to do much more since he had an eye shot out by a BB gun when he was a child. Yes, it really can happen! My brother served overseas during Viet Nam as a Marine. My father has passed but I will be with my brother during the holiday and always thank him for his service. And, he appreciates it when I do. So, yes, please thank a Veteran for what they did to help preserve our freedom by serving in one of the armed forces.
