Does anyone know exactly why Speedy's ferry service direct to St. Thomas from Virgin Gorda stops first in Roadtown? OK, I know that some people take it to go to Roadtown, but the rest of us are required to get off and go through "security." We can leave our bags on the ferry, any other personal effects such as ladies purses, shoulder bags, etc, are just passed over the counter and then we walk through a metal detector, grab our pocket books/man purses and get back on the ferry. What on earth will I be carrying that is illegal in my pocket when the bags are left on board and your personal bag bypasses the detector? Seems like a waste of time for no reason. Input anyone?

When did they start doing this? We've always taken the 6:30am and have never stopped in Road Town.

We took the 2:45 Tuesday last year and this year, and it happened both times. It is strange as it is, to us, not security at all, just get off the ferry while we move it to the departure dock, then back on. Only one custom's agent, and no real check's. Don't know. I'm glad that for the last two time's our last night has been, against our will and desire's, on St. Thomas because of weird ferry activity. Sigh!

Speedy's Tuesday/Thursday 2:45 from Virgin Gorda to St. Thomas stops for no apparent reason in Roadtown. They call it security, but it isn't. It is a waste of time...

Their schedule shows a departure from RT with the same arrival time so the same ferry. VERY misleading!

when we kept our boat at VGYH we always flew in Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday, just for the non stop ferry. Don't understand security as VG has it's own customs office

The 5PM looks to still be direct VG to CA.
