Great picture .. what a difference to what is there today. Miss the old, simple SBB.

Gone are the good ole days! That place wouldn't hold up now with all the cruisers. Do I miss that old place!!! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/cry.gif" alt="" />

We just came back, and we found SSBB to be very disappointing. However, I cannot recognize where that little bar is in the now vast complex of SSBB. I think this photo is a bit misleading. The big main bar is under cover surrounded by a big covered area of tables all the way out to the water's edge.

Where was the bar located originally? I'm trying to figure out what's in the background - looks like some sort of a garden!

Pretty sure that the main bar that is still there near the runway. Remember the Caravansari resort was the only thing there and there was walkways etc out to the point that is gone. This picture is probably pre 1995. But I could

I think the original bar is still there and in the same place. Everything else is just built around it.

We've only been visiting Sunset since 95, but since we've been going there, pretty sure the bar is in the same place as always. Back before 95 when we only visited SXM on cruises, we always just headed straight for Orient and never went to Sunset. It wasn't the cruisers' mecca back then.

And Carol is correct....the original bar is still there (right next to the road) with everything else built away from that original bar.

That's the location where acquaintances turned into life long friends. While it's changed dramatically we still try to get there once during our vacation for a drink to watch the planes land and take off.

I can't help when I think of Sunset, I think of Dennis. No matter when we were there, we'd turn around and there he was taking photos and snapping ones of us.

Good memories for us.
