kdavi,
I may be mistaken but I think the OP is asking for directions to the actual closed road into Happy Bay.
The left turn to the FBBC entrance is a long ride down a crummy road to a private parking area intended for FBBC patrons and not a Happy Bay parking area. People do it but...... we have seen FBBC employees chastising people for parking there and NOT staying and/or eating and beaching at FBBC.
The directions you're giving are a lot longer than parking along the road near the gate on the main road just after the left you mentioned and walking the road/path into HB.
Safe or not for a single couple? I have heard stories but have no recent up-dates. The only thing we ever encountered were some big cows? <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" />
