Day 2
Awoke to dark clouds and rain squalls. The sea, however was quite turquoise, so I know I’m in the right place. The windshield wipers on our rental were not functioning, fortunately Tropical-Tropicana is right down the road, so we pulled in, explained the problem, switched cars to go for breakfast with the promise to return for a 1:10 airport pickup. Off to Maho for our Nice relaxing breakfast at Fashion Café Then shopping for sunglasses and sun screen – with the current deluges, this is the eternal optimist (no umbrellas – bad idea) point of view.
Next adventure to see Anne and Hans Meevis at the Jewelry Studio in Simpson Bay. I have old pieces I’ll never wear again, so I brought them with me to have a piece designed. MWBR folks. I am really excited. Almost lost track of time, but got back to Tropical-Tropicana in time to switch cars again. Ahhhh working windshield wipers… it’s the little things that make us happy. Squall line moved out a bit, so we vegged on the patio, then another gully washer arrived. No beach today. Hubby caught his zzzz’s.
Adventured thru Lake Mullet to Ocean Club to enjoy some time with Bill and Elaine. Some arrogant dude – zipped past at the second puddle and went past 2 more cars into the great lake under the trees in Mullet. By the time we caught up with him, he was stalled ( oh my) and was holding up traffic himself. Still there 45 minutes later – how did that work for you, bud? What’s that line? Patience and age will be youth and enthusiasm….
Had munchies at the Ocean Club Bar and finally got to meet himself BobD, aka BlackBob. He has his own perch there! What a gentleman, great meeting you! Also chatted with Thelma from South Carolina and Sue from Maryland. A very nice group, Ocean Club is like a welcoming family.
Looking forward to sun tomorrow, probably over to OB to find Cybershark and Fabila.
