We finished off the day yesterday after the second set of rain squalls blew through, and after a lengthy debate over where to go (or not to go at all) for dinner, by heading up the hill to Bar Code or maybe to Fat Tony's for a pizza. We had no clue it would be such an adventure.....

Earlier in the afternoon a small lake had formed at the end of the Towers driveway and by the time the second rain event passed, it looked like the lake had grown considerably. A security person was directing all the traffic off the road and onto the golf course with the only instruction being "just follow the tire tracks, " and that's exactly what we did, coming back out on the main road just before and sort of across from the road to the med school and the Atlantis driveway.

We proceeded up the hill and ended up at Bar Code but only because it was the first place we came to and there was plenty of parking. John had the BBQ rib plate with hand cut thin frites and I had a Caesar salad with crispy calamari...... enough to satisfy our hunger and we both drove away content. Our dinner tab came to a whopping big forty dollars with gratuity included but keep in mind we didn't have apps or desserts and we only drank iced tea. We both remembered the yummy chocolate coladas we had in January and we were going to have them as dessert but the more we thought about crossing Lake Mullet in the dark and then mud bogging on the golf course we decided to skip dessert and head home before it was totally dark.

Good move on our part - the security people were gone as was the fire department emergency truck but not before they had rolled the boulders back into place denying access to the muddied path through the golf course. Now we were really stuck and there was mega traffic going in each direction as well. We were in a long line of cars and vans and ended up fording Lake Mullet in the wake of the van-type bus in front of us. Sorry, Lesley but we had no choice and we crept through the water ever so slowly as did all the others stuck in the same situation. Needless to say, we made it as did our trusty little Nissan but we will never do that again, for sure. The prudent thing would have been to go up the hill and through the French lowlands into Marigot and back across the causeway bridge but literally, our driveway to the Towers was smack in the middle of the 'Lake' and we thought, since the security people and rescue trip had left, the situation might have improved while we were at dinner, and from either direction we still had to get to our driveway in the middle of the lake. So much for the excitement.

Home again we watched a little tv and played cards before heading to bed early. I mean - we really did have such a tiring day.........doing nothing can be exhausting!!

We arose to a non-sun filled day-break. Hazy skies, no sun rays and none of the lovely colors so often associated with sunrises here but it's still all good. Breakfasted at the yacht club and not a boat to be seen in or out of the lagoon with the exception of a few rubber dinks going in and out. This is starting to sound like the vacation of nots - not sunny (so far) and not particularly warm, today anyway. The Eggs Benedict at the yacht club were yummy and it was nice to catch up with Monique regarding her travels of the past year so it's still all good. It's Easter Monday and while many have the day off, we're surprised at the number of businesses open today. And yes, they are still partying at Mullet Beach! Party! Party!

This entire day has been iffy from sunrise right through the day and into the evening, but so far, not one drop of rain. At least, not where we've been. That said, we took a little drive after breakfast to do an errand and came back to the pool and it's actually been chilly. We both kept wishing for a blanky to snuggy up with. Just not a normal SXM day by comparison to what we're used to. But I'm not complainin'..........

Grabbed a pizza at Fat Tony's for dinner - fed both of us and brought the other half back home to the Front Desk and Security Staff. A very tasty large cheese pie and a can of green iced tea - $22.00. I think we paid more than that for a burger and fries and two fruit punches yesterday at our pool bar. Not particularly trying to eat inexpensively but it doesn't hurt and I know we'll more than make up the difference with a day at Dreams or Anse Marcel soon to happen.

And now, another early night. We just don't seem to have the desire to wander too far........ but give us time and I'm sure we will. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" />
