Our Sunday flights on AA from St Louis to Charlotte, to SXM were actually all ahead of schedule. YEA!!!
Mr Lloyd from Horizon Car Rentals ( angela@horizoncarrentals.com ) was waiting for us with our name on his sign as we exited the terminal. Some quick paperwork and card rubbing and we were on our way. We actually took Mr Lloyd with us to drop him off at the office which is located behind the KFC at the roundabout since we were his last client for the day and we were headed that way anyway.
Stopped by Royal Palm to pick up our phone from Sharon at QueenofSXM@yahoo.com . It worked fine as usual. Missed Sharon who was off Island.
Stayed at our timeshare, Oyster Bay Beach Resort for the first week using a studio unit which I had banked the previous year. http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc2/sxmnorm/SXM%20Nov%202016/IMGP3924_zpsgco1vcjw.jpg

Jeannie, from Shop n Drop Grocery St Maarten.com stocked our frig. Nice to have a cold drink waiting upon your arrival. Cleaned up, and was ready to head to a special dinner with our friend Luci, some of her fam, and friends in Dawn Beach Estates by 5pm. Luci was leaving in two days for Las Vegas and then onto Hawaii. She said she’d just fix a “simple, easy meal”. “Her words”! It started with a Citrus Salad which contained greens from her garden, citrus slices, roasted nuts, raisens, and I’m not sure what else. http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc2/sxmnorm/SXM%20Nov%202016/IMGP3926_zpsqqg3dcim.jpg Pork Tenderloin and Chicken Drumsticks off the grill, Bacon wrapped baby potatoes, and an experimental apple pie pastry for dessert. And not to forget some nice wine. Certainly glad she didn’t go to any trouble. It was a fun evening with neighbors, Barbara and Neil. http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc2/sxmnorm/SXM%20Nov%202016/IMGP3927_zpslo8wtgr3.jpg Candlelight dining thanks to GEBE, and a lightning show courtesy of “the Big Guy”. I wanted to see Luci before she left town to present a glass bowl I had made as a “thank you” for her order of glass dishes which she made last February and which I delivered on this trip. http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc2/sxmnorm/Norms%20Glass%20Projects/IMGP3914_zpsbguyucw1.jpg

BREAKFAST:

Pier Grocery
– Located just before the entrance to Oyster Bay Beach Resort, the grocery has fresh baked croissants, especially if you get there before 7:30am http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc2/sxmnorm/SXM%20Nov%202016/IMGP3928_zpsvgmaopyc.jpg

Mr Busby’s – Located on Dawn Beach with a wonderful view of the Atlantic. http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc2/sxmnorm/SXM%20Nov%202016/IMGP3939_zpsy4es3vs5.jpg A great place to start the day. My favorite is their Breakfast #1
http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc2/sxmnorm/SXM%20Nov%202016/IMGP3936_zpslou0joiz.jpg Love that they let me substitute a Johnny Cake for the toast. With coffee, it’s $12.25. There is no service charge at Mr Busby’s. Ran into Jeff Berger having his breakfast a couple mornings. He even gets a sign that says “Jeff’s Office”. http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc2/sxmnorm/SXM%20Nov%202016/IMGP3937_zpsjuklkxqc.jpg
Star Dock – On the pier opposite Mr Busby’s . wonderful setting with a view of the boats in Oyster Bay. Quiche, Wraps, Crepes, fresh fruit on the menu. This is a cheese crepe. Really meant to order a Cheese Quiche, but it was early and my brain and mouth weren’t in sync yet.
Vesna Taverna - Located on Airport Rd almost across from Mc Donalds. The morning service is run by Sally. http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc2/sxmnorm/SXM%20Nov%202016/IMGP3991_zps4n6xhqfw.jpg She tries real hard to make your visit perfect. She also has a great memory. She knows without even ordering that my favorite meal there is their French Toast $6.00. This visit the chef had used up all the whipped cream making desserts for later in the day. So I had “naked” French Toast. http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc2/sxmnorm/SXM%20Nov%202016/IMGP3990_zpsrc9dname.jpg A lot fresh juices and smoothies on the menu.
St Maarten Yacht Club – There can’t be many better places to enjoy breakfast
http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc2/sxmnorm/SXM%20Nov%202016/IMGP4011_zpsdytyrbst.jpg http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc2/sxmnorm/SXM%20Nov%202016/IMGP4012_zpsjhdjphcu.jpg
Two eggs, bacon, toast, potatoes, is $9.00. Add fresh oj for $5.
A second visit we had two eggs, a bagel with cream cheese for $7.00 ordered off the side dish menu.
Taste Factory – A Chocolate and a ChocolateTwist Crossisant made a nice breakfast one morning. http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc2/sxmnorm/SXM%20Nov%202016/IMGP4021_zpstq2wnu8n.jpg
Atlantico Bakery – Stopped here for a Ham and Cheese Croissant and Chocolate Almond Croissant. It’s located across from Dinghy Dock Simpson Bay.
Lunches

[Infinity Restaurant – Located off the courtyard of the Oyster Bay Beach Resort, the dining room has been totally redone. http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc2/sxmnorm/SXM%20Nov%202016/IMGP3935_zpsryqar84k.jpg This meal was complimentary provided we listen to the sales pitch again. Thankfully our agent was busy finalizing someone else’ s purchase, so we got to enjoy our meal in peace and quiet . I had their Chef salad which was very good with a lot of cheese, turkey, ham, red and green peppers, tomatoes. Betty had their ribs which were also very good. As our agent was delayed we ordered a Crème Brulee. It was very good,…though not quite as good as our favorite from Pineapple Petes.
BeauBeau’s – Beach Bar overlooking Dawn Beach and attached to the Oyster Bay Beach Resort. http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc2/sxmnorm/SXM%20Nov%202016/IMGP3946_zpskfg25g6q.jpg http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc2/sxmnorm/SXM%20Nov%202016/IMGP3947_zpscqaohbat.jpg I always enjoy the view. Here’s their current menu. http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc2/sxmnorm/SXM%20Nov%202016/IMGP3948_zps1pchlg4v.jpg Since Betty was still recovering from her sickness, only the hot dog sounded good to her. $6.50 and they do add service charge.
Later in the week with Betty feeling better, we split the BLT Sandwich. From the Infinity at the pool. http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc2/sxmnorm/SXM%20Nov%202016/IMGP3958_zpsru1y1gfu.jpgad We also had the OBBR Club while sitting at the pool.
SMYC – Split a Chicken Caesar salad with 2 cokes was $17.00 . <a href="cchttp://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc2/sxmnorm/SXM%20Nov%202016/IMGP4022_zpsjfbgzpju.jpg" target="_blank">cchttp://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc2/sxmnorm/SXM%20Nov%202016/IMGP4022_zpsjfbgzpju.jpg</a>
