Yep it was very cool. At first I did not think it would break through the clouds for him. Very Nice. Here was the sequence in my part of the world.

Thx <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Smile.gif" alt="" />

Camera is going in for a cleaning this weekend it has a busy fall/winter planned.

We have two trips coming up. October will be Maine and St John New Brunswick. Then the first week of December we are doing a Christmas Market River Cruise up the Rhine. Starts in Basel Switzerland and ends in Amsterdam. I cannot wait to start snapping away.

Yes, I remember you mentioned your European river cruise a while back. Boy, would I love to do that one. Can't wait for the report and pics. Your northern adventure in Oct. should give you some excellent pics, it's prime fall foliage (I think). Have a great time!!! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Groovin.gif" alt="" />

Hope to do a blog on the river cruise and will post the link on TTOL. I wonder if a European River Cruise goes under the Worldwide Travel of Afloat Thread <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />

Nice capture Tom! Did you use a filter? I searched in vain for days for solar glasses, ended up making a long box viewer which worked great! Notice the crescent shape is inverted in the box. Fortunately the neighbors had one pair of glasses so we passed them around and saw it in all of its orange glory.

Love the shot and your magic box.

I used Baader Solar Film Paper and made my own filter.

Basically, I used two pieces of black matting and cut a circle that was slightly larger than the lens in the center of the two pieces of matting. Then I placed a piece of the solar film over the hole of one and carefully placed the other piece of matting on top and taped them together. Then off to Walmart to the craft section for a piece of Styrofoam. I cut a hole so it would slide over the lens and taped the filter on the other side. Covered the Styrofoam in painters tape to make sure no white pieces get on lens and voil I had a filter.

I will take a picture of my creation and post tomorrow.

As promised - here is my homemade filter
The solar filter paper was so weird. The major warning they gave you was do not handle it and do not pull it tight. Just did not make sense to have wrinkles, but it worked.

Why thank you LBI2SXM! I am glad you have enjoyed them.

Beerman - The picture on the wall was taken off Rendezvous Bay in Anguilla during the annual Independence Day race. It is one of the ones I blew up to 24x36 on metal.

I can tell you - Anguilla at the end of May was wonderful place to be. Sailbot Racing around the island, hanging out a Dune Preserve with Bankie Banx (great music), and beautiful beach made it a life time memory!

That is one trip that will be duplicated.
