Hi All,
This is a way late trip report from a trip we took in December. Here is a link to our pictures, pretty awesome and funny at times.

We flew to San Juan from Tampa had a 3 hour wait for our AirSunshine flight to EIS. Just FYI when you get off American, AirSunshine is upstairs and all the way down at the end of the terminal. Our flight to EIS was to leave at 2:30 pm. We went to the counter at about 1:00 and nobody was really there, so we decided to go upstairs to duty free. We went back down to the counter and they were telling everybody to come on we are leaving now! They left an hour early without telling anyone. Thank God we came back down to wait. There was no announcement or anything. Anyway it was pretty cool walking out on the tarmac and seeing our plane. I got to sit up front with the Captain and you can see some pics I took from the air. It was a beautiful flight and only took about 45 minutes.
When we arrived at EIS we wanted a beer and to relax badly, there was only us and the people on the plane that had to stand in line to get out at the airport so didn’t take long. We dragged our luggage to the Loose Mongoose and had a couple of beers before calling a taxi to take us to our hotel the Tamarind Club to meet our friends that arrived before us. Tamarind Club has nice greenery and open air bar, rooms ok. Had fun that night at the bar and dinner was good, whatever I had.
Day 2
We took a taxi to get our boat and he stopped in Road Town at Bmobile for us to get a card for our phone. That is such a great feature to be able to do. $30 lasted us 10 days. We only checked messages and home when we needed. No yimmeryammering. We arrived at Sea Cow Marina and our boat was ready to go, unfortunately our provisions from Bobby’s was not. We had scheduled them to be there at 10am. We waited for over an hour, an hour we could have been on the water! Our captain was young I think only 24 years old! He was born and raised on Tortola and his dad owns the Willy T, he was great and did a lot to accommodate us. Even was able to call and reserve the last two freshly caught Wahoo fillets the night we had dinner on Willy T’s it was really good.
Our first night we moored at Cooper Island, I love the beauty of that place. But they are very strict on that smoking policy. There was one person in our group that smokes cigars and he was told to move after some complaints from some pple sitting outdoors next to us. Whatever. Fortunately me and my husband smoke the electronic cigarettes and they are great because it seemed every restaurant/bar that we came across new exactly what they were and did not have any problems with it. I like the little table stands they have out in the water for you to do stand and drink at that is a cool feature. The dinner there was ok.
Day 3
We were headed to Anegada and then the boat had a fuel pump problem, but a mobile repair boat was called and it was fixed in no time. In the mean time we took the dinghy over to Leverick Bay and bought some provisions and shopped a little and then we were one our way. No problems after that. When we arrived it was probably the most beautiful blue day you could imagine. The water was perfect. We rented a car and they came and picked us up from Potter’s and took us to their office and we were on our way. We did a pretty fast whirlwind and hit every spot to show our friends that had never been there. Made it to Loblolly Bay and walked the beach a bit, then tried to make our way to Cow Wreck, got lost out in the “desert” but eventually found the correct road. It was gorgeous had some beers bought t-shirts. Nobody was there (again). Then on our way to Neptunes to drop of a music CD that we said we would make for Randy(?) the bartender about 2 years ago, he has no idea who the heck we were, but gave it to him anyway. Then made it back to Potter’s for dinner. They made us a huge dinner. I have come to the unfortunate conclusion that I am just not a lobster fan. I have had it twice now when visiting Anegada and just not for me. But we did take some back to the boat and in the morning put it in our scrambled eggs and it was delicious. The sunset was unbelievable I think my husband must have taken about 30 pictures.
Day 4
We headed back and stopped at the Dogs for some snorkeling and diving. The water was too rough for me and Kathe to snorkel out. Casey and the captain went diving. Casey said it was some of the most awesome diving he has done. We then moored in Trellis Bay and hung out at the Loose Mongoose and shopped around. Also went over to Marina Cay, more shopping, had some drinks and snacks at Pussers.
Day 5
Then headed to The Rhone for them to dive. As they were diving me and my husband took the dinghy around the bend to Salt Island. That was probably one of my favorite days. The dock there is kinda high so be careful climbing up. We walked all over, saw the gravesites, walked around the what seemed to be abandoned cottages and out buildings, kinda creepy to because you couldn’t tell if people stayed there sometimes or not and it was sooo quiet. Two chickens followed us around. My husband was able to get a cocunut down out of a tree, peel the husk and open it. I almost felt like we were on survivor for a moment J. The chickens liked it. There was some newly made round palapa tables with benches so that was nice we just sat and read for a while. Then headed back to the boat.
Then it started . . . . We headed over the the Pirate’s Bight to moor and eat dinner on the Willy T. None of us had been on it before. By the way this trip my favorite Bushwacker was had at Pirate’s Bight. Played a little ring toss and just hung out on the beach. When we decided it was time to go over to the Willy T our captain was able to secure the last to fillets of Wahoo for us, that was pretty cool. So we went over the the Willy T and upon getting out of the Dinghy our friend mis-stepped and went overboard taking the captain with him!!! Oops. After 1st making sure everyone was alright (captain’s phone a no go), laughter and picture taking we headed up for more merry making. Met ppl from France that we had no idea what they were saying but seemed to understand all was having a good time with dancing and all. It was time to eat, our Wahoo was delicious. I was tired and headed down to the dinghy to wait while they all paid the check. I was shocked to see how many dinghies were all crowded around the dock area and decided it would be a good picture . . . then I stood up to take the picture and the next thing I know I’m in the water! I saw a lady running towards me with a horrified look on her face and then my husband’s hand grabbing me, I was alright, but camera, flip flops, and sunglasses goneL And that is enough on that.
Day 6
Light day went over to soper’s hole, our friend’s wanted to do some laundry?? why? Anyway they were able to walk to a laudromat somewhere nearby. We bought some groceries, shopped for sunglasses and flip flops and just hung out on the boat until dinner time. We ate at the Jolly Roger it was packed, most of us had the ribs they were excellent.
Day 7
Did our usual stop at Cane Garden Bay to go to the bakery and rum distillery. The bakery was out of the bread we wanted L. They said if you call ahead you can order it. We walked over to the dock to leave and our friends were getting in the dinghy, I was watching them and took a step sideways to step back a little and my whole right leg fell through a small gap in the wood!!! It abrubtly stopped just below my knee and I yelped out a little and when everyone turned to see what happened their faces were like ewww. Below my knee looked all puffed up. I wrestled my leg out scraping the skin around the bottom of the knee all on the way out. The captain was about to call someone because they all thought it surely was going to be worse than we thought. I was able to walk on it so thank God it was not broken. If anyone goes out on that pier make sure you look for that spot. Every board is pretty well even with the other except the one I fell through, there is a slight gap like a sliver of wood got broken off and there is a larger gap than all the others. It was a miracle that I did not fall sideways or backwards and break my leg! After getting in the boat the captain raced over to get me some ice and I just sat down with my leg up with ice and put rum on the scratches, it helped. Other than feeling a little quesy(sp?) about the way it looked I was doing ok. We went over to the sandy spit and I was actually able to swim over and walk around a bit. Then went over to Foxy’s taboo and walked to the bubbly pool we all loved that. Found some flip flops to my liking at Foxy’s.
We went over to Great Harbour and wanted to eat a snack at Corsairs but they were closed. There was a great happy hour on rum punches going on at Wendell’s I think it was so we sat at the picnic tables and just watched the world go by. We made reservations for dinner at Sydney’s Peace and Love, captain eats free there you know. There BBQ is always good, steak not so good. This was our last night on the boat.
Days 8, 9, 10, 11
Barecat allowed the captain to drop me and my husband off in White Bay and not go back with the boat to the company. That was nice. Our last four days were spent with 2 at the Perfect Pineapple on JVD and 2 days in Cane Garden Bay.
We loved staying at the Perfect Pineapple. We requested the very top cottage and the view was spectacular. Cottage was very clean and we did not mind not staying on the beach this time at all. We have stayed at the Sandcastle before and unfortunately it just got way out of our budget. I think they raised their prices and then with the 17% they add on top of the price we just didn’t want to have that cost. Also IMHO it is too crowded with day ppl and a little dirty around the bar area now. The Perfect Pineapple does not charge any fees other than their posted rate.
I will tell you though that the walk up to that cottage is a tough one. We ended up calling it “buzz kill hill” We will stay at a lower cottage next time, but recommend doing it once for the view. The owner did drive us up the hill with our luggage when we first got there and down when we left for the ferry when we asked with no problem. They do not supply beach towels. We rented lounge chairs each day for $5 in front of Gertrude’s. The best deal on the island! Perfect view and not as loud at in front of the Sandcastle. It literally takes about 3 minutes to walk from the cottages to the beach.
We went to Ivan’s for his BBQ on Thursday still great food! We walked to in the evening and on the way back at night it is really dark. Bring a flashlight. Or if your cell phone is bright enough you can use that. That’s what we ended up doing. Kinda spooky, but fun.
Unfortunately the last 3 days I ended up with that terrible flu/cold that everyone seemed to get back in December it was horrible but I pushed through it J The last 2 nights we were supposed to stay at Rhymers and we did one night but I couldn’t handle it for the 2nd night because I was so sick. We didn’t get our usual room which faced the side beach area and got a room on the “other” side, make sure to request it and they will try and accommodate. We decided to check out Myett’s. They had a room and we took it straight away. Their rooms, at least #4 was like heaven (especially when you are sick!), and the atmosphere is so soothing. There is a free bottle of Myett’s rum in the room for you too. My only wish about this place is that the area in front where you layout on the beach was bigger. No cruise ships while we were there so that was great too.
Done.
