Most people will have no money to spend there. They need water more than beer or wine right now. Perhaps they can contribute to rebuilding in some way.

If there are no tourists...what good is having a bar open??? These people need food....water....electricity....and all the other basics to live. With all the chaos going on...i would think a place serving alcohol would be counter productive. Would much rather hear that grocery stores...pharmacies....and other essentials are open. I realize a bit of normalcy will go a long way....but sorry if i can't be excited about the Red Piano.

There are island residents who patronize Red Piano. I agree with Linda. AND, it has been reported elsewhere that grocery stores, banks, gas stations, and pharmacies are opening. Yes, their hours are reduced, and purchases are limited, but they are opening. After a week of backbreaking work in horrific conditions, a couple of drinks sound like just the ticket to me. Cheers!

After Katrina many said to implode the Dome and let the Saints move... Far sighted folks, including the NFL commissioner and our Governor felt the symbolism of fixing the dome in time for the Saints to play in September 2006 would go a long way towards healing the city.. For any sports fan that watched the opening game in 2006 saw a city being reborn in front of their eyes... Open the Red Piano Bar... Open what you can. Show the world that SXM is stronger than any damn storm...

Freakin EXACTLY <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Thumbsup.gif" alt="" /> I was in NO after Katrina and whatever was opened was full of rescue/relief workers and residents just trying to regain normalcy. This is important.... GO FOR IT!
