Any info on the airport? Wondering when they will let flights in for residents or property owners. I know it will be a while, but just wondering the damage and how much repair...

The runways have obviously been repaired to some degree, as humanitarian and evacuation flights have landed and departed. The terminals, which are necessary for normal passenger traffic, will likely take longer. I've heard nothing about that.

The runways basically had sand on them.........the main VOR navigation aid (named PJM) near end of runway is operational.

Someone is playing control tower.

The airport is functional......you will probably deplane downstairs (happens to us half time anyway)....

Suspect. We'll claim bags and go through passport control in que lines in/outside.

I hate terminals anyway. I like feel of entering exiting an airplane.

I'll change my mind when legs give out or pouring down rain.

I second that! Nothing like exiting a cold cabin into the sun and fresh caribbean seabreeze. Plus the short bus ride always puts a smile on my face!

I read somewhere a report that the airport will open for regular (as in, NOT evacuation, etc) flights on September 26. Anyone heard this or can confirm?

Without the terminal, immigration, security, and baggage claim will be difficult, if not impossible.
