Received email from Florence on October 25 stating that they are planning on opening in a week with a smaller and less expensive menu. She mentioned that they had good insurance. They had damage but not like the restaurant across the street. I imagine she was speaking of Ocean 82. She also said that if there was anything we could do for them that it was to return as usual. They lose almost everything and she said she was worried about us getting off the island.

Good news...one of my faves on island.

Based on pictures I've seen, she was talking about Tastevin. That place got hammered.

I just returned from sxm and spent some time in Grand Case. Both Ocean 82 and Tastevin were heavily damaged. Every single ocean side building was damaged or destroyed. Just heartbreaking. It was good to see skys the limit open and talk of the town being rebuilt.

Would appreciate hearing more about your visit when you can.

I will post a trip report soon! Been pretty under the weather since I got back. Note to self - never travel with a cold again

I sympathize. I often CATCH a cold down island. I guess from the plane.
