I did not hear this live. Is there a recording of it somewhere, as I'd like to hear what Soc said.

I finally made the time to listen to this. Soc really got wound up about the safety issue. Right now I think the biggest issues for people who WANT to come is that there aren't a lot of hotels available and air is not very convenient for most. Heineken Regatta is still on, but I do wonder where people are going to stay, unless some timeshares open up before then.

With reference to Regatta, it’s not only the hotel availability I’d wonder about. Are the boatyards and marinas going to be ready for them? With so much chatter about the sunken boats and submerged debris I would think that might also be a major concern. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" />

Respectfully,

Yes, that is a good point. The marinas are still a mess, as far as I know. I had decided before Irma that I wasn't going this year anyway, but IF there is a good turnout, I don't know where people would stay.

I'm on weekly some time between 945am AST and 10am AST every Monday. It's an hour earlier on EST. We talk a lot about developments on the island, stories in SXM Weekly News, places opening, etc. Lots of villas opening by 12/15 so lots of ways to stay there. Air is the only issue...

Some timeshares are using under-promise and over-deliver rebuilding themes. Maho is a mess, but I'd bet some Simpson Bay buildings will open sooner rather than later.
