Sorry! The whole of northern Europe is having some pretty bad weather at the moment. It's nothing compared with what people in some parts of, say, Canada have to cope with, but most of Europe doesn't have the infrastructure to cope. And just a few delays at other airports can have a huge knock-on effect.

When the Iceland volcano crippled flights some years ago, my wife & I were in the Dominican Republic. It took about 10 days for us to get back to the UK, involving the first available flight into Europe (into Madrid), a train to Santander, a hotel stay waiting for a ferry to UK, a ferry to Plymouth, a train to London, and a taxi to our home. And it cost a lot of money! As an aside, we'd been at a naturist resort in DR, so only really had the clothes we'd travelled in - got some strange looks in the hotel in Santander wearing the same clothes every day!

We made it back. An awful day of travel, but we are here.
There were 5 couples in our group. Three are home now. One is in Dublin, and the last one still in Amsterdam.

It is good to be home.
But I am ready for the next adventure.

Hard to say at this point. Fully emerged in getting back into work and the Christmas madness we tried to escape. This year is a big decision year for us. It is retirement time. One of us? Both of us? Keep digging the ditch? All to be decided after the holidays. Then it will be trip planning time. Northern Spain for about 2 or 3 months would be my choice. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Wink.gif" alt="" />
