Today, Michael visited a naturalist resort that so resembled Club O in SXM that we had to share our experience!!!!! This resort, near Pierson, FL, is only thirty minutes from our humble abode. Imagine yourself, almost there, when a bumpy dirt road was leading us to the entrance of Sunny Sands. Sound familiar??? We could just imagine the clear blue water, the gentle surf, the yellow umbrellows, Papagayos nearby. Our hearts were pounding!!!!![Linked Image][Linked Image]We just knew that we had found a paradise in our own backyard. We passed through the security gate about 9 AM where we were told to report to the bar. At the bar, a very small cafe type restaruant, we paid $23.50 and were told that the pool and hot tub were nearby for our enjoyment. The pool, about the size of ours, was quite a welcome from the 95 degree temperature outside. For about an hour, we were the only ones there.[Linked Image][Linked Image][Linked Image]Then some other couples started to show up, very friendly, the type you really would meet at Club O, and the music in the background was Dick Clark reviewing the early rock and roll music from the 60's and the 70's. We took out a mindless novel and started to relax from the hectic world that you guys live in everyday too.[Linked Image][Linked Image][Linked Image] We acutually waited until almost 11 before we dared to ask for a Budlight (no Caribe here), and were told that even though it was before noon, okay. In and out of the pool, we managed not to become well done until noon when we ventured back to the restaurant???? for a bite to eat. Between a choice of hamburger and hamburger, we chose the hamburger. Although not Papagayos by any means, it was actually a very good burger. By now we decided that we had had enough sun, so we opted for the shade to continue our novels. That was very relaxing, until the "love-bugs" started to hover and lite on every part of our bodies. I took out the Off that we had purchased at a 7-11 along the way for $6 (also reminded us of some of the luxury products from SXM) and started to spray them to death. Michael started to laugh and reminded me that Off was to keep the mosquitoes away, not to drench these helpless love-bugs who meant no harm. Anyway, about 2:30 we decided that we needed to head for home; too much relaxing is not a good thing in this world. And home we came. Back to reality. So don't get too excited about booking six months in advance for reservations at Sunny Sands in Pierson, FL, but do remind yourselves that even though SXM seems so far away and so magical, there may be places to go and people to meet very close to your homes that can engender similar fun and fellowships that we all love so much when we visit SXM. Thanks for sharing a simple Sunday in FL.
