We've been back nearly two weeks and have made great progress thanks to our amazing builder Desmond Davis ( cannot recommend him highly enough). The third floor " Skylounge" is almost back to normal apart from a blocked drain from the shower..new paint..ceiling fans , doors and repaired shutters. The second floor still has some construction stuff that should be moved today but has been repainted and has a working shower etc. The kitchen has a new fridge but no working stove right now ( someone "borrowed" our gas tanks). The plans for the ground floor rental..Desmond will power wash it out next week and then, hopefully we'll start fixing that up. With the new sea wall and concrete walkway into the ground floor there is a ton more outdoor space..should be great for the beach part this summer. We are suffering from lack of open restaurants. D Coal Pot is open and doing gonzo business and they are working very hard on The Sugar Mill beach bar and restaurant. Sebastaina's is still weeks away from opening. Omar's in Soper's is terrific and they have a very limited menu at Pusser's upstairs. Gene's in Manuel Reef is wonderful thanks goodness..and Nanny Cay has food at its beah bar every night..and a limited menu at Gennaker's" for lunch. If you can make it to RT you have more choices but the south shore road at night is no fun to drive. That's the update..we are here til April 13..

Good to hear progress being made but you can't blame the Skylounge shower on Irma. It has been stopped up for two years. That was one thing that I failed to fix.

We don't sleep aboard until Monday, April 16th, leaving the dock on Tuesday, April 17th. We will be out for 10 days. If you see us, stop by for a cocktail.
Are you flying into St. Thomas or Beef Island?

Glad you are making progress, Mal!! When are you planning the beach party for? Mappy will be on Rendezvous from Voyage with Jim and Joyce starting on the 16 of June I think - Dirk and Sandy will be down, Brian and I will be sailing 6/9-6/22.
I am coming down and staying at Leverick 4/19-4/24 so hope to see some peeps there too!

After three weeks..the second floor is up and running..a little sparser than pre Irma but lovely all the same. We need a new futon to switch it back to a bedroom when necessary but have an inflatable queen size mattress in the meantime for our pals to sleep on.A few more things to fix..the Skylounge shower drain..new doors on the second and then we start tackling the ground floor rental...Looking forward to visits from friends again soon..it was great having Tom Garvey with us. Hoping we'll have the rental fresh and ready for the seaon..lots more pation room now with the new seawall and our own beach access from the patio now..Still hoping on a June/july beach party.

Mal--we will be in St. Martin the last half of June, so if you have the party then, we might be able to come over for a day or two.

Great report. Actually better than I thought it would be at this time. Wish I were younger. We would have been there. Already have a month or more booked next Feb. See you in Sonoma next month.

Hey there MAL good to hear that things are coming along at CRC. We've been wondering, keeping our fingers crossed and praying all will be back to normal. We arrive on 6/14 same time as Chris & Tracy, Tim & Deb so we should be on the same ferry over from STT. Trying to book at Sebastian's for a couple for days prior to boarding the boat on the 16th with Jim & Joyce, Jim's sister and brother-in-law and Michael & Laura Alvey. Wanda at Sebastian's seems a bit unsure as to when Seb's will open and it's hard being so far a way to get a feel for what's happening. SO WHEN'S THE PARTY????? Is the restaurant open at Sugar Mill yet? I sure hope we can stay on Apple Bay! We missed seeing you both last year so hoping it all works out this year! Cannot come soon enough!
HEY LINDAKAY HOW ABOUT JUNE??????????

We just cant lock in a party date as yet..we have to go back to Sonoma and find a new place to live there first..wheels are already in motion for that but...Sebastian's..it's hard to get a concrete answer about opening. Furniture arrived yesterday and the workers are doing their thing..but switching from the restaurant to the rooms to the front office rather than get one thing done ( so it seems).None of the management side can give a solid answer. Purple Pineapple Cheryl seems to have some hillside rooms available. Her beachfront properties are trashed right now with little or no work going on there. The Sugar Mill staff are working very hard on the beach bar with a whole new outside bar that will be terrific. They do have some rooms available but the upstairs restaurant and some other rooms are far from ready. Worth a call to Denni and Mary to ask them. I know some business folks have been staying there..no room service but still very nice..

April 12..heading to the ferry in half an hour. Work will start on our ground floor while we are gone..found out we have lights down there..running water..and the fridge still works! The new seawall has given us a lot of extra patio space overlooking the ocean so it will be very nice when all is done. "Tradewinds" Chris is house sitting here for ten days starting May 1 and "Wonky Dog" Peter is overnighting too. The upper two floors need a few things but really are very nice..we had a lovely stay here for the past six weeks. It was definitely different with few eateries to choose from and not much nightlife/music. All that will change pretty soon when the great new "Sugar Mill" beach bar opens and " Sebastian's" finally opens its doors again. In Carrot Bay " Sappy's" has been rebuilding at a great rate and they have been serving meals in the parking lot of " Bananakeet". We had some nice dinners at "Rhymer's" in CGB ..so nice to get a baked potato! " Myett's'" is serving a very limited menu still. " Quito's " looks a long way off..Tony/ Stanley's is gone and " Paradise Club" is serving drinks. " The Irma Shack " out by the road is doing meals and is popular. In Road Town we now have a legit Indian restaurant " A Taste of India"..I highly recommend their chicken jalfrezi..and, as always, " Gene's" at Manuel Reef in Sea Cow's Bay has been knocking it out of the park..all for now..

....forgot to mention" D'Coal Pot" in Carrot Bay and " Stout's Lookout" at the top of Windy Hill with great cheeseburgers.
