I emailed Dede's to reserve a car for our June trip, and received a reply that they're going to be closing due to insurance problems. Not sure if it's temporary or permanent.

I was trying to rent a car for April, received the same message from DeDe's. Didn't say how long they would be closed.

Thanks Chris. We had always used them and were very pleased. Who did you rent from? We will be back in June again as well - June 13 - 26.

I received an e-mail back from Jerry, he indicated they are doing a minimum of days for all rentals. We only want the car for a day prior to our charter. I was able to find one at Avis. Has anyone used Avis before?

This should have said a minimum of 3 days for rentals. I couldn't figure out how to edit the original post.

While we have been upfixing Da Ting post Irma ( water got in lots of places) I have been renting from C and R in Sea Cow's Bay, Manuel Reef..right by Gene's restaurant..good service and cars. BTW..looks like Denzil Clyne is rebuilding which is also good news. LOve Jerry too but he often does not have cars available..

Same issue here with the minimum number of days requirement. We've been using National our past few trips and they've been generally great to deal with. Sometimes they'll let us leave the car and keys with the charter company when we leave, other times they want you to bring it back and then they'll take you back where you need to be. On the plus side, they're at east end, RT and west end, so pretty much wherever you are, there's an office pretty close by.

Haven't done AVIS, but I'd bet if you check you'll find they're similar. If not, check out National, which I think is same as Budget on Tortola.

Would be happy to support the local guys, but the minimum days of rental just rarely works for us.
