Following is from Jeff Berger's weekly email. I can't find it anywhere else on the Internet so wonder if this is a premature April Fool's joke?
Elon Musk, Richard Branson To "Ice-Out" Hurricane Seasons
Entrepreneurs Elon Musk and Richard Branson will work together this year to "ice out" hurricane season.
The plan -- revealed exclusively to SXM Weekly News -- calls for a fleet of ships to tow huge Icebergs from Antarctica to the tropical Atlantic, Caribbean, and Gulf of Mexico, where they'll melt, lowering water temperatures during hurricane season and preventing hurricanes from forming.
In an exclusive interview, Musk told SXM Weekly News that he expects Caribbean nations to be able to enjoy full-year tourist seasons now that the threat of future hurricanes can be eliminated.
There are a few drawbacks, of course. One is that the water temperature will be too cold for swimming — perhaps around 60°F, according to some estimates. To solve that, Musk and Branson plan to go into the wetsuit business and offer cut rate wetsuits to swimmers, to enable them to enjoy the beaches as always.
The other problem is that most tropical fish are accustomed to 80° water and may well perish as waters chill. "No worries," says George, the owner of SkipJack's Restaurant in SXM. "I have connections. I'll bring down thousands of cold-water lobsters from Maine, throw them in the water where they can breed comfortably, and everybody will be happy. They're already on my dinner menus."

He had a special April Fools Day edition early, I guess. Trying to spoof the Daily Herald. IMHO, poor taste but when you are about drawing attention to yourself............

To each their own but somehow I never got the gist of using a tragedy, especially a recent tragedy, for humor.

As that COPYRIGHTED edition of my SXM Weekly News dated April 1, 2018, said at the top and the bottom, it is / was the "April Fools" edition of SXM Weekly News.... It was one of many stories that were enjoyed by a lot of people (and panicked a few)....

It takes a few days to email SXM Weekly News to its 300,000+ recipients worldwide, so it had to go early. The regular Monday April 2 edition must start mailing early on April 1 (Sunday) so logistically it had to go when it did. Two or three people were worried about people misunderstanding the parody, but a lot of others were all for it. It got a great reception.

Funny you said that because the people who most ardently supported us doing this were our friends and partners on the island. They loved it and said "We needed a good laugh." Something tells me that the people here on TTOL who are criticizing it haven't read it...

I noticed that later but, with all due respect, the newsletter is so "busy" that I generally ignore everything above the actual stories so didn't see it the first time around.

Some of us here, (possibly many of us?) did read it and failed to see any humor at all. Put me in that group, please, April Foolfs message or not.
I’m sure it wasn’t your intention to do so, but too many people on the island are still feeling the after effects of Irma and all the heart ache it caused them and still continues to till this day.
This is one thing that should be off limits in an attempt at being funny. I get the April Fools thing and am more than willing to acknowledge there have been some great ones over the years. Using a tragedy as a source for humor is pretty tacky, Imho. This one falls flat........
Respectfully,
pat
