Hi all...

I am going to the BVI end of May after a 2-year interruption, from Miami to SJU first. I saw some scary posts about Seaborne which seems to be the only way from SJU to EIS....
1. Is there any other airline doing this?
2. Is it worth it to try the St Thomas route + ferry? Are the ferries back in business and reliable?

ANY advice on either option will be appreciated. Thank you.

Just landed SJU to STT via Cape Air. They are reliable as far islands go. One delayed bag this past 6 months over 8:trips. Ferry’s are running “normal” . In fact they seem more reliable than before.

Cape Air and Air Sunshine are both operating.

We have always gone through STT and the Ferry. We have never in 5 trips ever had a problem with the flights or ferries. I do know we save hundreds by NOT going through EIS. Good luck and have a fun trip!

Cruising the local waters here in SC and GA. Love the BVIs and miss the Tradewinds!

We almost always go through San Juan, on either Cape Air or Seaborne. InterCaribbean also does that route now, with good prices. Three trips since Irma with no problems.

Had a crew of eight just return and we spent our first night in San Juan the night before our charter began. Flew out of San Juan the morning of our charter with Fly BVI at 9:30 and landed at Beef at 10:05. We were done with customs and walking to Trellis to catch our water taxi by 10:30. It was the most enjoyable experience I have ever had with flying. I cannot recommend Fly BVI enough! From the first email, until we parted ways in San Juan on our return, they were unbelievable. You may pay a little extra for this service but trust me, it is the only way to get to BVI in my opinion. Good luck. Wish I was going again!

Last three trips we have used InterCaribbean and have never had any problems until this last January coming back from EIS to SJU. We were delayed almost two hours but we all made our connections in SJU to home.

This last trip, part of our group rented a home in San Juan and spent a few days there pre-charter. We all enjoyed it so much we are going to do it again next January. For me personally, t is always the most cost effective and has been the least amount of problems when I fly Southwest to San Juan and InterCaribbean to EIS.

If you choose the STJ option, build in extra time on the return leg since they make you jump through a lot of hoops to get on your flight home.

The ferries seem to be back and slightly better than ever. Yesterday took the RT Fast Ferry to Anegada..an amazing new cat..but not licensed (yet) to service Tortola St Thomas..go figure. Through all this mess must say we have always made it by ferry to Tortola and back and we do save a lot of $$ from SFo via that route ( and avoid the hassles IMHO of SJU)

We were on a charter with MarineMax and had to take water taxi from Trellis to Scrub where they were based. We chose Scrub over Nanny Caye as they are using both at the present time. Also, agree with JlarsBVI that Southwest to SJ is most cost effective. Round trip, including Fly BVI charter, was $850 per person.

SJU = home of the $11 Corona. Biggest ripoff airport I have ever been to and I have been to a lot!

Add that $11 bad beer price to the stuff stolen from your checked bags and it becomes a very $$$ proposition...
