The holding varies there depending on the depth of the sand which moves around. It’s fine for a lunch stop. The anchorage is not however a suitable overnight stop unless you have a perfect weather forecast. Any chance at all of squalls or Tstorms it should be avoided which is most of the time. It gets ugly in there fast!

I wouldn't do it unless on one of the two mooring balls in front of Coco Loco. We stayed two nights there on 4/18 & 4/19 on a 50ft cat, although quite a few boats were anchored overnight up in the east end of the bay. As GeorgeC1 said, it can get ugly in there real quick as the bay is wide open to the southeast. We had a few gusts on the night of 4/19 and I was glad we were on a ball.

Why risk it. There is nothing open at night and Great Harbor is more secure. If your anchor breaks free you will likely be grounded before you get top side. Many folks do it and several times each year a boat ends up on the beach.

Thanks for the feedback. Doesn't sound like a good risk. It's just more scenic than great harbour...
