I need a berth for one night at the East end in the end of May. Unfortunetly probably Friday night . Anyone knows if marines on the East end are operational after Irma and take transient boats?
Best regards, Alex

Eat at Red Rock as well if you go to Penn's. Excellent!

You will enjoy Penn’s Landing a great deal. Friday night has been what they refer to as Pub Night at Red Rocks, the restaurant there at the marina. I love the whole setting, we keep our boat there at Penn’s so I am a bit spoiled. The folks at Penn’s have done a fantastic job of getting things in great shape. The docks have been rebuilt better than they were prior to Irma. The food at Red Rocks is some of the best on Tortola. You also have the advantage of Riteway being very close by and you can dinghy right up to the Riteway. The entrance is well marked as you approach. There are plenty of Mooring balls and I would think if you call ahead you can get a slip. A huge benefit is that if you are meeting folks arriving via Beef Island you are right there. I almost hate to post this as Penn’s is a hidden gem and I think is often overlooked.

We once chartered with Tradewinds, which operated out of the Harbour View Marina. We spent the first night at their dock, and got bounced around pretty good. I know that Penn's Landing is tucked more into the corner of the bay -- is it significantly better protected?

Dan cheers

I was hoping one (or more) of you who recommended Penn's Landing could answer my question above. In case I was not clear, I'd like to know if there's much difference in wave action depending on which part of Fat Hogs Bay you're in. Any takers?

Thanks,
Dan cheers

Penn’s is very protected, The mooring field is tucked in so that the area is very comfortable. What I enjoy a great deal is that you are behind the reef but the view out to the channel is great and the breeze is not obstructed.

It’s a well protected anchorage and it’s very rare for a south swell to make it uncomfortable.
And yes to answer your question the swel would affect everyone in the anchorage
