Hi all reporting from Cane Garden Bay this am as Beryl and her bands past thru, we had a very close call and good fortune as the high winds and rain broke our mooring pendant off, leaving us free and adrift in the mooring field during very bad weather. This about 7am I can't remember. Fortunately I had been up a while and paying attention . We were dangerously close to another boat so I ran up and check the mooring only to find we are attached to a pendant that had broken free from the ball. Ran up cranked engines avoided collision and stomped on deck to wake crew. We grabbed another ball quickly as the gusts and rain slacked for just a moment. Fast and alert thinking on my/crews behalf is all I can say that saved us and another boat(s) from possible disaster. Thank God this didn't happen while we were sleeping. Can't stress enough how fortunate we all were. "Moor-Secure" pft.. I backed down on it yesterday and held fwiw...

Talk about adrenaline...It's an adventure folks!

Glad you're safe. We're tucked in a slip at Leverick. We'd planned to leave tomorrow for Anegada, but probably will hang around another day because things appear to be settling down by Wednesday.

We were on a ball at Cooper Saturday before the stronger stuff hit and I have to admit I was awake most of the night hoping the ball, my two lines through the pendant, and my cleat hitches would hold.

Both times I have found myself adrift it was in gusty conditions on a mooring ball. I much prefer to anchor if the weather forecast is not good.

We stayed at Leverick Saturday nighrt! Slip 18 the MarineMax 443. We were scheduled to stay at Leverick last night, but the dock was rough so we decided to leave around noon. Should have stayed !! Got to Peter at 3:15 pm and there were no balls left exept a super-sketchy one on the south side that had a life preserver as the floater for the pendant. So we decided to power it up to CGB and found plenty of balls. but DAM obviously the bad one.... That was hairy scary. I have the Anchor App volume on full on my phone...

Hi. I remember that morning. Was right next to your power cat. It was a close call that day!
