Looking for a place for one night convenient for getting from airport to Hotel on one day and hotel to the ship the next.

Not looking for expensive. Clean, safe, and convenient to seeing Venice sights.

2 weeks ago we stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn. It was conveniently located to the ship and airport, inexpensive, very clean, restaurant only so so.

I wouldn't restrict my hotel search based upon proximity to the cruise ship terminal or eas of access from airport. As long as you select a hotel with convenient water taxi access or near a vaporetto stop, Piazza Roma wil generally be within a half hour. Piazza Roma would be where you pick up the free shuttle to the cruise terminal. There are some large hotels near St Marks that are reasonably priced. For perspective St. Marks would be about a half hour walk to the Rialto bridge/market. We normally stay in the Cannaregio district which is centrally located but quiet. I would recommend taking a water taxi from the airport (about 120 euro) as well as a water taxi to Piazza Roma (abot 60 Euro). You can make water taxi arrangements online. The vaporetto, while cheap is crowded and would be difficult with luggage (plus one is technicly restricted to one piece of luggage).

Just fyi Bus 19 and I forget the other one maybe 5 both stop right in front of the Hilton Garden Inn. The front desk has tickets and maps. Bus will take you right into Venice in less than 10 min. We booked at cab thru the front desk to the airport for 12 Euro total.

The water taxi charge is not per person. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Joy.gif" alt="" /> But yes, it is expensive. When in Venice we buy a 7 day vaporetto pass (I think 50 euro per person) that allows unlimited use of all public transportation. When we head to an outer Island (say Burano) we will splurge on a private water taxi. The public transport can be crowded and hot.

Anyone know how easy/hard the Crowne Plaza would be regarding taxi/train/water taxi/bus access?

Again it is only for a day or so

Don't know about the Crowne Plaza. I would suggest trying Antica Locanda Montin. Note - I have not stayed there but I have eaten there. The food is fabulous and the people were very friendly. It is also accesible by private water taxi or vaporetto (the vaporetto would require a short/easy 5 minute walk). If your ship is leaving from the San Basilio pier, you are just a short 5 minute walk away. If your ship is leaving from Marittima basin, it is a challenging 30 minute walk or a short cab ride or water taxi.

Check B&B Bloom Settimo Cielo; my wife and I have reserved a room there and staying 2 nights after our cruise that starts in Istanbul. It is located near the Plaza San Marco. Hope this will help!!!!!
