Hi everybody! I am new to this forum, but I heard about it so I thought I would check it out. My husband and I just got back from a cruise we took to the Eastern Caribbean Jan. 26th-Feb. 2nd. St. Martin was one of the places we visited. I was looking through the forums, and I didn't hear much about the places we visited in St. Martin so, I thought I would share our experience on the island. First, we took a taxi to Simpson Bay Lagoon and went to a place called Tri Sports to go kayaking. We took out a kayak for one hour and had a great time passing by the mountain that the local shop owner told us is called the witch's tit (hope that's the technical name). We saw chicken and goats running around on the mountain and saw lots of jellyfish floating on top of the water. After trying to get back into the lagoon (wow was it windy), we asked the local what a good beach would be to visit. He suggested Mullet Bay Beach. We wanted a quiet, more relaxing beach. Boy, did we love it. What an absolutely gorgeous beach! We were also told to ride the buses on the island because they are much cheaper than the taxis. We appreciated that piece of advice smile Before we went back to Phillipsburg, we stopped at Turtle Pier for a late lunch. The food was pretty good, but nothing exceptional. Oh, and I tried a guava berry drink :o) Finally, we headed back to Phillipsburg and went shopping at Kay's Jewelry store. My husband got a watch, and I got a blue topaz necklace and a pair of beautiful diamond earrings. We were told that this jewelry store is a great bargain for your money smile I just wanted to say we had a great time on the island. We really want to go back for more than one day. Next time we go, it will be for at least a week! What a beautiful island!
