Will be staying in Orient Village in September. Before Irma, I used to have lunch at the Yellow Submarine in between walks to the beach and shop for groceries at the Supermarche' next door. I believe the two are no longer open. Any recommendations for somewhere to have a light lunch and to shop for groceries? Thanks, in advance.

Hi! I am staying in Orient right now! Yellow Sub and Petite Casino are indeed gone. Further done the road on same side of street is a small grocery store I believe named Ocean Star. It served our needs for beer, water, Diet Coke, milk, eggs, bread, cheese and crackers! My husband even got frozen chicken breasts there to cook on the grill. Last night we were looking for Etna ice cream so we went to Hope Market which is down the main road toward Grand Case and Marigot. Not far at all. On left side of road. Much bigger selection (found our cookies and cream!).

As far as light lunch we have only eaten lunch at Bikini so far. Certainly an option!

Day 4 for us out of 17. Beautiful weather so far! Hope you have a great trip!

You have Coda Bar and another small restaurant, in the plaza directly opposite the village and Le Douze and a small grocery shop in the plaza with BO Pizza, also Bikini Beach for lunch

Glad to hear that Orient Village is coming back, albeit slowly. We will be going back next April.

Boring is good (IMHO). We know that sand gravity limits reports and by the time you get close to day 17, you may need help with your keyboard.
We will spend about the same amount of time as you on the island Dec/Jan and by now, know the program.
We have been spending every year (Dec-Jan) for 33 years in SXM except last year.
This means that we are (1) very eager to return and that we are (2) older than most that are reading this thread.
Our hope is that the addition to our annual family vacation this year, our granddaughter, Scarlett, will begin a whole new chapter in a great family tradition.

We will probably miss Yellow Sub and the convenience of Petite Casino the most. We stopped by there after our early morning Orient Beach walk for either Breakfast or pastries everyday during our trip last year. I have seen pictures on FB showing some construction on their site. Also heard that Petite Casino might be rebuilding soon. Just booked for next March, no beach hotels were available at that time.
