Prayers and kind thoughts to the McCain family at this difficult time. No matter how well prepared we think we are for this finality, I don’t honestly think we ever are.
Shalom and RIP, Senator McCain.
Respectfully,
pat

Sen. McCain was a rare individual. In an era where respect for law makers can be difficult at best, John McCain gained the respect and admiration of the nation and his peers. l didn't always agree with his views but I always respected his ability to state his opinions without being demeaning to others or their opinions. A truly honorable American hero.

Well said, Mitch and I’m right there with you. We don’t always have to agree with one another but my hope is we can disagree honorably and respectfully and for the most part, he managed to do this.

I was even watching C-Span2 to hear the Senate tributes - from both sides of the aisle. Tears in many eyes.

Watching the funeral in DC. Meghan had me a blubbering fool. Monday we are going to the Academy in Annapolis to visit the gravesite and pay respects.

She should be a candidate for an Academy Award. No disrespect to her father John McCain but she was always in the eye of the cameras. I finally realized she has 6 other siblings, plus an adopted sister from Bangladesh. She was in the highlight from day one. My heart goes out to her brothers and sisters who were just as distraught but did not use their grief to get attention. Lets face it she is a so called TV star. She should follow in the footsteps of her mother who was so gracious holding in all her grief like the lady that she is. Meghan just doesn't get it.

Well said, Mitch and I’m right there with you. We don’t always have to agree with one another but my hope is we can disagree honorably and respectfully and for the most part, he managed to do this. I meant my words above when I said them, but after spending a few hours watching the eulogies given yesterday at Senator McCain’s funeral service, I was deeply saddened by the behaviors and comments of some and appalled at the comments of his daughter in particular. There is a time and a place for everything and since it has been so openly stated that Senator McCain planned and approved every moment of his services, I personally felt the obvious parts of her speech were disgusting. We’ve all lost loved ones and many have experienced injustices and hurts in life but IMHO, this was neither the time nor the place to air grievances, regardless of how heartfelt or well deserved they might be. Comes a time to ‘let it go’ and this should have been the time and the place. So sad to listen to the mean spirited and hurtful comments, and particularly so in this particular venue. Not saying they were or were not deserved but this just wasn’t the time or the place.
Respectfully,
pat

Thank you Pat, very well said. I felt the same way and was a little hesitant to post but then I felt I just has to.

Please, let's not make this political. Meghan was merely paying homage to her dearly beloved father, who was constantly belittled by an individual - even in death - whom she never mentioned by name. There was no "acting". Reversing these disparaging remarks was totally appropriate and expected. Next, someone will say that the tear running down President Obama's face during his impassioned eulogy was fake. I originally meant to commemorate a man who devoted his life to his country. And, I still salute him. That's all I shall say.

Biturbo--I totally agree with you. McCain was an American patriot, for sure. We will close this one here, out of respect for him...
