How interesting, the original development of the beach properties on Orient (AW-33) was done by Norbert Luftman (Sindextour) who was given a sweet heart deal by the government because they wanted the revenue (I was there and so were many of you). Now, after all kinds of drama over who owned what and who paid what (i.e., Bikini and Kon Tiki) and decades later the government is once again counting on Luftman to rejuvenate the Orient beach economy! He had the money and was willing to take the risk...not to be confused with Club O, Alamanda and other owners paralyzed by "waiting for insurance payments". NOT trying to write a testimonial to Luftman...others like Bruno et. al. at La Playa and the restaurants in the square are moving ahead), just commenting on how money talks and BS walks everywhere...

Don't know why you say "waiting for insurance payments?", as if the money is in their hands and they are doing nothing. Maybe you should look at the Club O facebook page and read the FAQs for their explanation. I'm inclined to believe them, and the insurance companies are holding out and delaying .

Spoke to a restaurant owner who said they are still waiting on insurance monies. Grand Case Beach Club is using funds held in reserve and still waiting for insurance money. Those we spoke to last visit 2018 said only those with their own funds are rebuilding while others without savings have to wait on insurance money payout making rebuilding slow.
