Wondering what suggestions people have for New Year’s Eve. We are 2 families on a boat charter with older teens. Thank you,

Only spent one New Year's Eve in the BVIs. It was a zoo in Gorda Sound. We scrambled to find a place to anchor and eat. Make plans soon and expect plenty of company.

We will also be sailing in the BVIs with two older teens during NYE and plan to attend Foxy's famous NYE party on Jost Van Dyke.

Foxy's is not my favorite NYE event, but I do recommend attending at least once, especially if you have older teens. If your budget allows, buy the Upper Crust tickets and you'll have access to a private bar, bathrooms, and a nice sit down dinner.

So we checked out the upper crust tickets. At $500 a ticket we are more like wonder bread crust. Does anyone know how much the regular tickets are? It looks like a great party though🧐. We would like to be there

Yes free to attend - you can "park" your boat in line with all the others and jump from boat to boat to get access to the beach - We've only done it once but it was memorable.

It’s a great experience. Locals line the main “street” with booths selling food and drinks. Foxys usually has their bbq as well, which runs about $20 or $25 (can’t remember). All of the other restaurants & bars will be open too (whoever has rebuilt, that is).

I will be attending the world famous “Old Year’s Night” party at Foxy’s on JVD. I am traveling solo and have never been to the BVI/USVI much less to this party so I really have nothing to offer in terms of suggestions. Thanks to the advice of others in this forum, I have secured a room at Rhymer’s in CGB on Tortola, and bought my “Upper Crust” ticket to the party, now I just have to work out the details on getting there and back! I got a quote of $150 from W end Tortola to JVD and back, however it would be great if I could find a round-trip from CGB. Not sure if anyone is putting a trip like that together, but I would be interested in participating if they are. Not looking for a free ride, just a great time with good people!

The seas and winds in January might make CGB closed off to boats due to the heavy surf.
Your best bet would be West End and then taxi over to CGB

Thank you sail445. Knowing that it might make more sense to find a larger boat for the voyage. It appears the largest boat in Foxy's fleet is a 38' Nautiline Express Cruiser. Great boat in normal seas but may be a little small when they're rough - particularly for a 1 a.m. return trip in the dark after drinking all night! :^) I appreciate the info!

I cannot disagree with sail445 as I have never been there in January. But while staying on CGB in the past I have been able to get rides to JVD from locals for little or no cost. Ask around while you are there. You never know.

Go Irish!!

Thank you, again, ndfaninnc! As much as I like to plan ahead, this might be one of those excursions that is better left to making happen "on the fly." I have found so many good people already, I find it hard to imagine I won't be able to hitch a ride with someone. Worst case, there's always a kayak! LOL :^)

A 38 footer is fine, but if you have to make an advanced reservation you’re better off to make it from W End rather then gamble on calm seas to go to CGB

The ferry is $25 roundtrip from West End. Will run late into the night.

Thank you Jason. I just reached out to New Horizon Ferry and will post what I find out about any special NYE trips they are planning.
