Slept a little later this yesterday, 7:30 am. Whopee! Another gorgeous day in Paradise. Thank you. Breakfast was at the villa today followed by beach and pool time. I took a break and drove with friends to Cupecoy to pick up food supplies and lunch in Jordan Village.

We got take- away from Shogun . It’s a small café serving Asian street food. I counted seven tables where you could dine outside under the canopy if you wanted to dine there. The have a chalk board menu which changes daily. I ordered the chicken nem $6 (there were four, but I ate one before I took the photo – they were very good). For my main meal I selected the sweet & sour pork with veggies. For $14 it came with white rice. Just ok.

Two more friends depart tomorrow so we all went to Mario Bistrot in Porto Cupecoy for dinner last night. WOW it was fantastic.

There was a beautiful breeze in the courtyard so we dined in their outdoor area. Service was outside as was the food. They offered a 3- course prix fixed dinner at $36 offering more than several items and a few specials in each course. For appetizer we ate the tuna tataki which was out of this world.

A few slices of perfectly grilled peppered tuna.

I opted for the special which was a Boulibase.

David had the duck served with sautéed veggies and potatoes. He loved it too. Hard to capture my dish but believe me it was very good. For dessert there were tartins and sorbet. Pictured is a chocolate pecan tart.

The house Rose was lovely.

Love that spot. We enjoyed it when Le Bateau Ivres was there and Le Moulin Fou Steakhouse and I think there was even one more attempt at a great eatery in that spot that just didn’t take off but the name escapes me at the moment. Here’s hoping Mario’s does better there and with the following they’ve long held I’m certain they will.

We absolutely love the location and the fact that Mario’s has chosen to be there. It’s easy to get to with lots of parking; great ambiance both indoors and out; not much more can be said about Mario’s food that hasn’t already been said; and after dinner there’s often something going on in the courtyard or you can just walk off some of your meal by checking out the beautiful yachts there. It doesn’t get much better than all of that.........

Respectfully,

pat

Great stuff, Louise! I have to ask though, was the pricing really in Euros, as Marios is on the Dutch side?? 36E is still a good deal, but there is quite a difference, unless they're accepting 1 to 1.

But if they are putting Euro on the credit card you will be charged the current exchange now hovering around 1.14 and not 1 to 1 as per usually for cash.

My mistake, not euros, usd. will correct. The photos of the duck did not come out well. The duck was a breast with a hoisin type sauce.

Pat, we also enjoyed Le Bateau Ivres. There is a new restaurant that just opened up in the same price. We didn't have a chance to try it out, but thought I'd mention it to you in case you want to try.

So nice to meet you Wendy. I met John also from the "lemon drops." Sorry we won't make it this year but appreciate the invite.
