DAY 4
Another beautiful morning watching Love City come alive. It rained heavy again overnight, which I’m sure makes the cistern owners happy! Have you ever been somewhere other than the islands and had the fresh smell of rain turn your thoughts to the islands? It happens to me all the time! This morning our villa families would enjoy breakfast at the Deli Grotto located in Mongoose Junction next to Ocean Grill, check out the website
www.mongoosejunctionstjohn.com They have awesome food at a reasonable price. We decided to order our lunch sandwiches to eat at the beach here as well. I recommend the Trunk Chicken sandwich on fresh baked bread!

Today was a big day for one young lady in our group, Katie was born 20 years ago. HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATIE! She told her mom she had 3 wishes for her special day, spend a few hours at a beautiful beach, shop with just the ladies and find a fun bar with a great margarita! She would be granted all 3.
The beach of the day was Hawksnest Bay. It’s a beautiful beach and close to town for their shopping trip. Skyway families secured a great spot on the beach early @ 10am. The sleepy heads would lag behind by only an hour or so. They would be heard later on the beach whining “where did you get those sandwiches?” to be answered with “you snooze you lose” It threatened to storm all day but it didn’t!

After a couple of hours on the beach the ladies packed up to head into Cruz Bay. Unfortunately, Hawksnest doesn’t have showers like Trunk and Cinnamon, so they would stop at the villas first. As they happily walked away from us my wife turns and says “you boys behave!” which is interpreted by me as “watch your drinking!!” With slumped shoulders and a lowered head I politely said “yes ma’am” I then turned to Brian and said “Hey, no more beer for you, pass the ball!”

Would you believe the ladies stole our new Jeeps? John and I would have to endure being seen in an older Dodge Nitro, NOT COOL! This is when I heard the transmission slipping badly! I told Brian first things first let’s head for St John Car Rental. Their staff was very accommodating and Brian received a much quieter Dodge Nitro that had just been turned in. His good Karma is slowly returning. I should mention that all of the St John Car Rental vehicles are in very nice condition, I just enjoyed busting Brian’s chops!
It was too early to use the rental lots “free after hour” parking, but we were fortunate to find a spot right next to the Beach Bar, good Karma gauge ¾ full! Low Key Watersports has an open beach front shower next to the Beach Bar for the diveboats, so we each rinsed off there. It was only @ 3pm and we would be meeting the ladies at the Beach Bar for dinner and drinks at 6pm. So we passed on drinks here and walked up to ZOZO’s at Gallows Point. Dang, they weren’t opening until 6pm so back down the hill to the new MOTU Bar, Dang…it doesn’t open until 6pm, kept on going through town, passing the Catholic Church, the Fish Trap Restaurant/fish market, Cruz Bay Boutique Hotel and then stopped in to say hey to Rich, the owner of the Lime Inn.

This is the Cruz Bay Boutique Hotel someone asked about?

Rich is a great hardworking guy. In 1992 while on our honeymoon he took my wife and I to see his new villa Sea Cay on Rendezvous Bay, nice villa we’ve stayed there a couple times. We ALWAYS have a great lobster or whole blackened snapper dinner at the Lime Inn, but we just didn’t have enough days in the week this time! We say goodbye to Rich and mozy 30 yards to the infamous Woody’s Seafood Saloon.

It was pretty tame today didn’t see a single body shot. After some appetizers and beers we planned to move to another bar, but wait…… the Starstruck guys say “We have got to take a shower” I looked at John then back at them and loud enough for the whole bar to hear I said “ WHAT KIND OF MEN ARE YOU? ARE YOU SERIOUS, A SHOWER? WE RINSED AT THE BEACH!” John, his son and I said “have fun ladies we’re staying in town!” (No offense to you hard core TTOL ladies) As the high maintenance crew walked away red faced the real men moved 20 feet to the Quiet Mon Pub. This is one of my all time favorite old school bars, great balcony overlooking the activity at Woody’s and a dart board! Oh and GUINESS, not on tap, but GUINESS none the less!

After I took a beating playing darts we walked through town towards the Beach Bar. The rest of the crew was already there and they’d secured plenty of seating for the 16 of us, half at the bar and half at the tables. I saw Katie with her margarita and winked at her, she returned the wink! She had a great birthday and I wondered if she would ever miss being a teen? I sure don’t! We would stay here for most of the night eating great food such as Blackened Mahi sandwiches and seared tuna appetizers with seaweed salad, ginger and soy! Great place for a Birthday party!

The villa families were parked in separate parts of Cruz Bay so we parted company. We had a nice relaxed stroll through town watching the nightlife. Our Jeeps were parked near Mongoose Junction, so someone suggested “one more” at the TAP Room. If you like beer this should be on your “must do” list.

We were back at the villa @ 1030pm and chilled poolside for a while, probably listening to something like Van Morrison’s Moon Dance on the awesome sound system. Well, it's a marvelous night for a Moondance With the stars up above in your eyes…
