Awoke to beautiful day. Two cruise ships in port. Spent the first half of the day at Friar's bay near Kali's. A group of twenty from one of the cruise ships headed over to Friar's bay beach bar.
Headed up to Talk of the Town in Grand Case for a combo of chicken and ribs with sides of noodles, salad, potatoe salad, peas and rice. You get all these sides on the complete plate. I enjoyed the whole red snapper for $9. It was very simply prepared but actually just absolutely delious. Maybe it has to do with the attmosphere. They will be closing this friday for a months vacation and are having a party starting at 10 p.m. We went last year, with open bar and free food for all. It's a great street party with a chance to mingle and make new friends. Before leaving we took away platters of chicken, ribs, and orders of stuffed crab back, christhopine (stuffed eggplant) and an order of conch. This will be for lunches back at home since we usually hit the beaches very early and spend the afternoon back at R.I. LaPlage.
Planned on dinner either at Le TasteVin or L'Effert Mer in Grand Case but found no street parking near by so continued down the street to L'Estiament. Carol was her friendly self and looked classy great, her english is good and understands my humor. The menu pretty much remains the same as I remember from last year. Had smoked Monkfish inside a covered glass of smoke, and warm gingerbread with foie gras, ice cream, and foie gras lollipops for starters. The latter being new to the menu. Portions here are small but very tastely. Shared a middle course of parsnip soup with truffles. The in house made rolls also come with truffle butter which I loved. Carol recommended the pork for me and I would compare them to short ribs with a rocking sauce. My wife enjoyed a small portion of seabass which was our only mild disappointemnt of the night. Entrres are served with four different small sides. Had a bottle of Mentou salon from the Loire valley and then a couple more by the glass after finishing the bottle. My wife spilled half of her glass and Carol was kind enough to refill both of our glasses. Service is always very gentile here.. For dessert the princess had the creme brulee sampler which was tastey but very small. I had the usual chocolate smpler with chocolate in about six different forms. I can't believed Carol knew to bring a second small portion of the one with the poprocks for my wife. After dinner was completed with the complentary shots of tiramisu their singnature drink. With a generous extra gratuity bill came to $200. Dang I forgot to use my Sxm card, probably was that extra wine.
