Verizon worked pretty well during our brief time in July on STT going to and from planes. However an unlocked phone with an AT&T SIM card seemed to work better. I'm told Verizon phones are unlocked now, but didn't try that out since I had another unlocked phone.

Unless things have changed recently STT is not in network for Verizon and you will have to select and pay for a international plan. If you don’t the roaming bill you get may cause heart failure! G
edit: The USVI is now in network for Verizon.
