80 days until we arrive in BVI for our first visit since the hurricanes this past year. I have followed this site religiously over the years and have found it to be one of the best tools for planning our trips. Our group is meeting to lay out a preliminary itinerary, with emphasis on the work itinerary, as we generally have had to make accommodations for weather, cruise ship crowds, etc. That said, we have traditionally scheduled a layover in the North Sound the evening before we head to Anegada. Following reports from this site an others, we recognize that the Bitter End still resembles a nuclear blast site. I understand that Leverick Bay i up and running on excellent form. Previous posts indicated that Saba Rock was under renovation and scheduled to open late December. We assume that December may not take into account the island time factor. We would appreciate any update on facilities, other than what we already know about Leveick, that we may be able to use while in the North Sound. Any eyeball reports on the progress at Saba in particular? Hope to see some of you there Jan 28-Feb 4.

We were in North Soiund on Oct 29/30. Leverick Bay is fully operational (including groceries) but that was it! If Saba is operational, it will be with a tent, which is the default for many folks. Maybe Sandbox will be back, but hard to say. They were under construction. However, you have a great big beautiful sound almost all to yourself. There are balls at Leverick, and there are still balls in front of BEYC, but I don't know their status.

Last I heard, the BEYC mooring balls do not have penants

Still no pennants on the Saba Rock and BEYC mooring balls. A few of the Biras Creek mooring balls have pennants.

Lots of construction activity at Saba Rock. There's an R/V with bumpouts parked on the back side of the island. As mentioned, I can't see them being open in December.

The reconstruction of the Sandbox has come a long way in the last few months, but they haven't started on rebuilding their dock.

Also lots of cleanup progress at BEYC. Now just a large bare area where restaurant and office used to be. The loose debris around the north sound rooms looks to have been removed with just the heavy concrete walls still standing - probably need some heavier equipment to knock these down unless they are going to rebuild by tying into these walls.

Fat Virgins Restaurant and Gift Shop is now gone with just the slabs left.

There's still a large barge and smaller barge stuck on the shore near Gun Creek.

Construction barges were running all day long to Necker and Mosquito Island, and there were barges with derricks at Necker and Eustacia islands.

No signs of recent activity at YCCS since cleanup activities this winter.

ONB construction going full-bore, though I heard from an employee that the marina village opening scheduled for mid-December might be at-risk.
