Dave, we were booked but then they moved the completion date. So I too want to know conditions.

We were there for a week in October amidst the construction, but we didn't mind. The new rooms are gorgeous and it was wonderful to see all our old friends again. All rooms are decorated with beautiful Roland Richardson paintings. That was one of the 1st things I noticed when we went in. We stayed in the 100 building where they were constructing a new pergola on the beach side. Of course, there were no food services yet, but again, we didn't mind. Everyone was so warm & welcoming, and so glad to be back!

Carol- we aren’t owners, but have been going there 20+ years. We were invited to be in on the “super soft” opening.
No, the Roland Richardson paintings are not copies, They are the real deal and are absolutely stunning!

Huh. I guess that look is popular these days. I personally don't care for it, and it seems a pallid background for Sir Richard's paintings... I'm sure it's just me..

Carol, you have a good eye! The design idea was meant to be neutral, using Sir Roland's paintings as the primary pop of color and focal interest, along with the pillows and throws on the beds and couches. I think the designer called it a "gallery ambiance", and I can assure you that it also looks much better in person. The rooms have a very open, airy feel.

OK, if you say so. Looks very bland to me.. I much prefer a much more vivid overall color scheme, like at Beachside Villas..

The story said that Sunset Café was already open now, although I have not seen that stated anywhere else.

Pony said no food services. It would be a challenging for breakfast, lunch and dinner all off site.

I was at Petite Plage today; Sunset Cafe has been open for two days. They were packed the entire time I was there. By the time I went up for a late lunch, they had run out of food and I had to eat elsewhere. It was too windy for umbrellas today, but chairs/cushions were $10 per regardless of whether or not you ate at Sunset.

TravelHat- there were no food services when we were there in October, but they are open now. Sorry for any misunderstanding.

I thought it would be nice to spend a couple of nights
there, but if I am correct it is very expensive.

Does it actually start at $250 per night?

Thanks very much for the information. The interior decor looks understated and elegant, just like the rest of GCBC. We're eagerly awaiting the arrival of March 5! This will be our third year at GCBC after staying at a slew of villas in the Orient Beach area over the last 20 years. As the years advance we find it comforting to be in less isolated environs.
