TRIP REPORT 3/13th -23rd

I am going to start off my trip report a little different this time, some on this board get accused of having on rose colored glasses when it comes to SXM so I am going to go over the negatives we experienced on the island first. Then I will go over the party & the best of the rest of my 10 days on the island.

Negitives;
Crime-There was only one incident at one of the restaurants, we were eating minding our own business when this seedy looking character was wandering around by our table it made me very uncomfortable so I gave the other guy with me a nod and we both kind of stared him down and he walk away, I think he was about 4-5 and he was eyeballing my French fries he may have needed a fix since they did not have any food yet.

Weather- it was too perfect, from now on every trip the weather will be compared to this trip and will always be disappointed.

People-once again just one incident but it was devastating we were buying some stuff at one of the shops and the cute young lady called me……..Sir! they should know when they see a man gaining quickly on 40 this could push me right into my midlife crises.
(sorry just having some fun, if you haven't figured out I always have fun and enjoy my trips and never let the little things get to me)

The Party!!!!!!- What a great time at the Greenhouse. I would like to thank Conan’s crew of Carlos and Mikisha(she is the one in gsk’s(Gretchen) pic with my wife and friends ) I would also like to thank all the ladies what a great group( oh and the guys too). I really enjoyed meeting everyone and I would particularly like to thank the party leaders of Gretchen, Leslie,& the rest of their clan. Deepti was a doll as everyone said, Dickey what a guy, next trip I will have to plan more party time with him, Dave and Rita we saw later on the Lambada, I could go on and on how great everyone was. I would ask anyone who took pic’s aside from Gretchen since her’s are posted to email me so I can post them. I also need to thank Kevin for being sober enough to keep the lists of names safe since the night got real fuzzy for me at the end and I not only did not take that many pic’s but forgot the notebook at the Greenhouse. I also forgot to giveaway the week at my villa so here are the lists of names again and if anyone is missing let me know so you are in on the drawing.
Cole in Kc & wife Michaella
Augie & Sue Kattermann
Kirby Bragg (Gwleo)
Suzanne & Pat Madden (Sxm snowbird)
(Me) Kevin Shop (mmartinfan)
Sheila Swenton (She314)
Gretchen Knoblock (GSK)
Leslie Smalara (Not a member but welcome)
Sue Swenton (Not a member but welcome+she is She314's sister)
Mary Ann Perkins
Terry Perkins
and daughter Brittany and brother Glenn Perkins
Frank the dog(Mary Boon)
Dicky the human (Mary Boon)
Ken & Kathy
Pat Trchenor
George & Janis Brown
Rae and John (Sugarae + Mr. Sugarae)
Karessa Burns (Kbinmd)
Janis & Coreg Compton (JaniceisBC)
Rita & Slavid Burnett (DandR)
Deepti and Jeff (Diamond Princess)
Wayne & Brenda Lair(not members, Cole’s friends)
Elguadio , gypsy charters(not a member???)
There seem to be a few missing but it is hard to tell when we go from ttol handles to real names.

The best of the rest- AAA car rental Alain and Myra did a great job as always. My wife and son finished their scuba certification with Dive Safari’s and we did the shark dive, which was great. Miles, Diana, and Villiam(sp) did a great job with my wife and son certified and were a lot of fun to dive and have a few beers with. We set up everything email with Whitney who is one of the supervisors and was great she was also our vidiographer for the shark dive. Did the Prickly pear trip Dave and Rita were on the Lambada with us and all had a great time as always, we spotted two whales and some dolphin this trip the first time in all the years going it was really cool. Our friends had two young kids so we spent time at a lot of the beaches we do not usually go to like mullet which we loved and Galleon which was nice. Did the beach clean up with Gretchen and crew minus the partying birthday girl and gwleo was there as well (I always have trouble remembering the guys) The beach clean up made me feel really good, it is nice to give a little besides just $$$ and I hope this catches on.Also rented jet ski’s with my son on orient. Ate at Ric’s, Lee’s, Mama Mia’s, Texas bbq, Greenhouse, Barefoot Terrace, the beach bar at Galleon, Scavengers, Baywatch with Andy & Cheryl (sat in Carl’s corner), Tequila’s, Cheri’s, and the Lolo between dawn and orient. The casinos were good to us just about even up for the trip.

People always want to know what is a typical day so we get up around 6:30 sit on the deck with coffee and watch the sun come the rest of the way up, then go for a walk on the beach, have a simple breakfast (rolls, cereal), pack cooler with poison of the day (beer, rum punch, or crown and coke) head to beach by 10:00, bake, snorkel, drink and not in that order, siesta, lunch (packed or whatever in on the beach) leave beach about 4:00 go to greenhouse ½ price appetizers or head straight home to shower for dinner, dinner @ 7:00, drop kids at house 8:30 stay out till about 10:30 drink out on deck watching waves lap at the shore in the moonlight until we solve all the worlds problems or we can’t keep our heads up. People also ask what I spen on the island I budget $75 a day for food, car rental, day trips, booze, & misc shopping. This does not include big jewelry or electronics buys, or like the scuba certification.

Well I am sure you are all asleep after reading this so I will sign off. Already planning my next trip July???? Coleinkc
[Linked Image]
