We are considering taking our private vessel into the BVIs for a month.

Does anyone know what we must do to fish in the BVIs?

I seem to remember a boat must be registered plus each person on the vessel requires a fishing permit. Is this correct? Or does registration apply to charter vessels?

Thanks

You are correct, the vessel must be registered, and each person over the age of 18 that is planning on fishing must also have a permit. You are not required to have a permit if not fishing.

Thank you for the response. Think we will pass on fishing in the BVIs as it just sounds too complicated to suit our needs.

We typically throw out a hand line every now and then (usually on passages) to catch a fish for personal consumption. Once we’ve caught one we stop fishing.
