Here are two pics from a couple days ago of Club Orient. The seaweed was bad but went swimming anyway.

One day there three people were scooping seaweed out by the armfull and piling it up on the beach.
Very few people in the water.

I guess they don't have enough people to be able to rake right now?

Endless battle of manual labor. Talk of them hiring a tractor for the day. Rumor was $800/day.

But mostly guest were cutting water pathways by hand or with a pitchfork to allow the surf to come in past the seaweed fortress and let the surf gradually take it back out.

Worked great and it looked like old CO beach for the last week.

The piles down towards papagayo were someones bad idea. And they do kind of stink in decay.

But the water was very swimmable for a almost the whole length on Thursday.

You can wade in the water (sandy bottom) around papagayos to the old watersports “pavillion” which is a nicentiled slab.

Thanks for posting these photos. The second photo didn't look too bad. Would you say it is better or worse since Hurricane Irma (or about the same)?

The second pic looks better because there is a cliff that drops off to the shore. It is about a two foot drop off from the chairs. The seaweed is being covered by sand from the onshore waves so it should build up the beach. IMHO
