Renting a condo in Orient Village soon. Is it safe to walk back and forth to dinner/bars in the Village at night? Based on Google Maps it looks like our walk would be about .25 mile. Thanks for the reply's.

Last time I was there, three years ago before the hurricane, it was very safe. My family was staying in a condo and would walk down to the town square every evening. There were always quite a few people out and about so we never felt unsafe, at least down in the lower village area. Not sure how it is now with fewer people in the area.

Hard to say about things presently, but in the past it was relatively safe to do so. The only thing I wouldn't recommend is strolling the beach later in the evening. But, otherwise you should be fine.

There are lots of people out & about in & around the village right now. Lights everywhere. So much is open there this year.

Staying in Orient Village right now, lots of people walking from the beach/restaurants back their apartments, both day and night, very safe

How are the businesses in Orient Village doing? One the of the things that will get my family back over there is having the restaurants, shops, and small grocery store back in operation.

At least 5 restaurants open & busy. Petit casino grocery open & ocean star for groceries. Yellow sub open with bakery. Good morning bakery & cafe. Bikini beach restaurant right there as well. Music Friday & I'm not sure about Sunday. Happening place.

We always stay in the area, never a problem walking to dinner and little bars but generally I stumble home! LOL

this thread has convinced me we should return this summer too. We last stayed the July before the Hurricane and were wondering if the village was open again.thank you for the update.
