The food was excellent as usual.

I’ve never been to the Wonky Dog. Hoping to get my party of 8 to agree to the (big) splurge. We are coming in late March. I’m thinking toes in the sand sounds kind of nice !! (It’ll be our arrival day - 1st day of vacation ). One review complained of bug bites. I assume if it was common it would be mentioned more often. I guess my question is- if I can afford it- should I reserve downstairs or upstairs for a first timer? Do they always have live music on fridays? (Sorry for the ramble)

Damn! We missed the opening of the second floor by a couple of days. Wonky is one of the few, absolutely cannot miss stops on our itinerary. While all of the Anegada restaurants offer good lobster, Wonky is a step above at a minimal increase in price over the other providers. We ate at the tables on the sand and did not experience any major issue with insects. We all did use a minimal amount of repellant. We were at Wonky on a Wednesday evening and there was no live music, but there was a DJ playing awesome music that everyone in the place seemed to enjoy immensely. FYI, there are incredible options on the menu which you can find on the Wonkybweb site. You are required to place your orders when you make your reservation so that they can prepare your preferred choice. Each member of our crew ordered the lobster, fully realizing we would have leftover lobster. That resulted in some excellent lobster and shrimp tacos on the boat the following evening (with fresh made mango salsa and fresh guacamole made by our talented crew chef). Not the worst way to enjoy leftovers 😀

Bottom line Wonky is worth it!

Definitely upstairs, no sand fleas.

Thank you for responding. I think we will completely regret not going so I’m making that upstairs reservation for 8. I’ve been on this site for so long and heard so many great things. Can’t wait!!! 🦞🦞🦞🦞

Y’all have me so excited for my March trip!

We’re doing two nights in Anegada-we’ve never done Wonky Dogs, having been enthralled by Potters on the first visit. Maybe we’ll branch out.

Midsouth, when are you going down? We’ll be on island until March 19, then back to Memphis.

We’ll just miss each other! We’re flying out the 21st, back on the 30th. How often do you go? We’re in the early stages of planning the next trip as well.

Our (admittedly loose) itinerary has us on Anegada the 24th and 25th. Right now we’re planning on spending the night on the hook in Savannah Bay on the 23d for some isolated fun. Cow Wreck is one of our favorites!

We’ve spent a lot of time on island this past year, rebuilding our house after Irma. Not sure when we’ll go down next. We like to be there in winter, then back in Memphis when the garden sprouts in spring.

If I had a house on island, not sure I could be dragged back to Memphis! It the grandkids live local, and I’m still a wage earner, so I’m having to be satisfied with vacation trips.
