Would someone with recent experience be kind enough to confirm the current taxes due when arriving and departing from EIS?

I recall that last year they had added an 'Environmental Levy' on arrival in addition to the standard departure tax when leaving which depends on whether you're flying private or scheduled.

...thats assuming that the jolly customs fellows haven't introduced a 'Smile tax' or 'Employees Doughnut Fund'.

Thanks in advance,

Thank you RatmansWife!

$40 sounds familiar, I believe with VI Airlink we always have to pay this and it is not included with ticket.

Back before VI Airlink's fabulous service between EIS and ANU when we flew with 'Luggage In Another Terminal' we still had to pay a departure tax, but it was less that $40.

Has that changed? Our friends will be arriving/Departing InterCaribbean from SQD. Would they pay a departure tax or is it all now included in the ticket?

Thanks!

I thought the departure tax was $20/person. At least it is if you're leaving by ferry.

Just looked at my VI Airlink ticket for next week - round trip STT to Anegada. They’ve included a $10 per person departure tax. Will we pay an “arrival” tax when we land in Anegada and/or an additional departure tax when we leave Anegada? (Not complaining- just want to be prepared)

The $10 in is fairly recent. Out used to be $20 in the ticket, $20 at the window, because they believed the airlines weren’t paying properly. Then one of the window ladies got caught pocketing funds, so they put it all back in the ticket.

Just had a quote for a trip with Fly BVI in and out in June... they quoted the following for BVI entry/departure taxes...

BVI Airport Development and Screening Fee (EIS) inbound $37/pers.
BVI Airport Departure Tax (EIS) outbound $20/pers.

Sorry - I realize this is confusing... The Airport Development fee is not payable on arrival, but is part of the overall ticket price collected by the carrier (this increases on March 1 from $25 pp to $37pp. The $10 pp Environmental fee is payable on arrival to the customs officer as Bradpitch92 says. The $20 departure fee is payable prior to clearing security as normal.

Just a note - some airlines (at least Seabourne and InterCaribbean) include the departure fee in the ticket so you don't pay at the window near security.

Best rule and one we always follows is have some 10"s and 5's in your pocket to pay taxes as different departure and arrival points have different fees - I know that sounds crazy but there is a difference arriving in EIS vs. Virgin Gorda or Anegada - same with departing. The small bills will let you navigate the "sorry don't have change' issue.

Jason, I booked tickets via InterCaribbean a few months ago, but I will be traveling after Mar.1. Do you know if customs will charge me for the increased fee ($25-$37 per traveler) on arrival? Just trying to prepare for arrival costs.

Thanks for all your helpful information in your posts!

Not sure what they'll do. I suspect InterCaribbean will be responsible for collecting it somehow. Probably when you check in. Are you sure it's not already in your ticket price?

Flew InterCaribbean two wks ago > we paid $10 at EIS airport entering. The departing tax was included in price of ticket. People with private charter (not us) had to pay "in the special line".
