We just returned to Cypress Cove from another trip to Blind Creek (see previous thread link comparing Haulover and Blind Creek), this time preceded by a visit to Playalinda Beach, part of Cape Canaveral National Seashore. We camped one night at Jetty Park Campground in Port Canaveral (an hour's drive south of Playalinda) and 3 nights back at the Ft. Pierce KOA. We were lucky to have great weather all 4 days, bright sun and temps reaching the upper 70s, albeit with some coolish breezes. The ocean temps were upper 60s at Playalinda and 72F at Blind Creek.

Both Playalinda and Blind Creek are really nice and practically identical, once you walk over the dunes to the long, beautiful beaches. They were both uncrowded with plenty of room to spread out if one is willing to walk a bit on weekends. The differences have to do with access and proximity to accommodations and restaurants.

Playalinda (finally) has permanent signs about nudity near the last parking area #13 which is quite a long but scenic drive from I-95/Titusville. Also there is a gate where one must pay day fees unless one has a senior Golden Pass, free then!. It seemed to be a slow process getting through the gate, taking about 5 minutes even though there were only 4 cars in front of us. It must be painful on weekend mornings, so I suggest that you get their early, I think they open at 6 AM. Another reason to arrive early is that the parking areas fill up quickly. We had to park in area 12 after our 10 AM arrival, even on a Friday, and it was also full by noon or so. But thankfully, the nude area now extends from area 13 south to 12 so we had a short walk after all. Our friends went on a Saturday recently, arriving around 11 AM, and had to park at area 10, it took them 20 min to walk to the nude area. Each parking area has a small bathroom. There is one RV park in Titusville, some restaurants along Rt. 406 and a few hotels near the I-95 exit, maybe a 30 min drive from the beach.

Access to Blind Creek beach is easier, the large parking lot is just off of Rt. A1A on Hutchinson Island and it is located right next to the walkway (i.e. short walk to the beach). It looked to be quite full on Saturday. The nice thing is that there was no rush to get there, the lot was still practically empty at 9 AM on both Saturday and Sunday in late March (peak season) with a great weather forecast. And it is totally free with no entrance gate like at Playalinda. The Treasure Coast Naturists have done a nice job posting nudity warning signs, keeping the beach clean and funding the 3 porta-potties. Accommodations and restaurants are just 10 min away in either direction and coming in from the north there are a couple of convenience stores on the island, where we bought lunch food and ice.

So Central Florida is blessed with these two great naturist beaches, either of which are perfect for a nice, nekkid day or 2 in the sun! I should not leave out Apollo Beach on the north end of the Seashore. We are hoping to get there on our next beach tour!

Great report Chuck! I was lucky enough to have the first assignment of my USAF career to be 3 years at Patrick AFB from mid-1968 to fall 1971 so I am familiar with all the spots you mentioned, although with an early-70s memory perspective. For >this< young college grad from the frozen tundra of Syracuse NY it was a life changing assignment.

LOL Carol. Our first visit to Club O was around 1997 when we were finally taking the cruise we had been talking about for 20 years. the last island visited was St. Martin. Our first full week stay at Club O was in 1998...21 hears ago. We started going to Avalon in 2001. How time flies by...

I should have added that there is a cheaper RV park in Ft. Pierce, but 15 min farther from Blind Creek compared to the KOA. It is a county park, Savannas Rec Area

Blind Creek is being threatened by Florida's DEP: Link to Gofund site

From Treasure Coast Naturist's Facebook page:
After careful research, the lobbyist discovered that yes, the State of Florida (through DEP) was getting ready to take immediate additional actions to compel St. Lucie County to close down all nude use of Blind Creek Beach. Since learning of this, TCN has committed to uncovering the answers and prevail in this dispute. The naturists refuse to back down or leave this beach. To win, TCN has officially hired the Florida lobbying firm of Maury Management Group. This company has a long successful record of representing both South Florida Free Beaches / Florida Naturist Association (SFFB/FNA) since 1994 and the American Association for Nude Recreation (AANR) in Tallahassee. Their normal purview is to watchdog and identify potentially harmful bills or legislation. But with TCN's recent hiring of Maury Management, a far more intensive, assertive, and expensive work plan has been set in motion.
What Can You Do? Donate to the Cause.

Blind Creek Beach Skinny-Dip
Donate so that you may continue to visit Blind Creek Beach as a naturist. Give so that we can also open up the opportunity for establishing more clothing-optional beaches around the State. At the moment other international and regional naturist organizations around the country have been contacted by TCN for help. The Treasure Coast Naturists, the Naturist Action Committee, the Naturist Education Foundation, The Naturist Society Foundation, B.E.A.C.H.E.S. Foundation Institute, and South Florida Free Beaches have all committed financial and in-kind resources to the fight. AANR, through its national and Florida region, has also been asked to join the battle.

Help Save Blind Creek Beach

According to Treasure Coast Naturists the threat to nudity on Blind Creek has gone away, thankfully!
https://www.facebook.com/pg/TreasureCoastNaturists/posts/

TCN THANKS YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

As many of you know, earlier this year the Treasure Coast Naturists identified a threat at the state level to the clothing-optional status of our beloved Blind Creek Beach. Thanks to your most generous donations, our lobbyist in Tallahassee was able to work with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and the County; and the state threat has been successfully dissipated. We are now working closely with County officials for official designation. We could not have gotten this far without your generous support. Thank you so much!

Just wanted to add that Sunnier Palms is an AANR Resort with 8 or 10 RV sites that are open particularly during the summer off-season. Most of the sites at SP are in long term rentals. The resort is 12/14 miles from Blind Creek. I like this option for camping when visiting Blind Creek because after a nude day at the beach you can return to a nude campground and continue to enjoy your vacation nude. The resort is very well maintained and the member/owners make you feel very welcome.
